I am so sorry to hear about the pup and they either dropped him or hit him.

I have personally watched a pup being mishandled and in an abusive manner at Petco. There wasn't a manager, but found a store employee to intervene because this woman was slapping him, holding his paw tightly and her face had such anger on it. He was very young and just scared of her. Went back a few weeks ago, and the same person is still working on animals. At this point, I am boycotting Petco and would rather pay extra at a local dog store.

My warning for all is to find a good groomer that you can trust with you animal. There a mean people in all walks of life.

Like others have said, the only way to maybe know is to have autopsy performed on your little one, this can be very expensive and then the autopsy may not show the cause why this happened.

I groom ours and always have since a bad experience, first time I took our Cassie to a private groomers, at the time I was due to pick her up she had been left on the table by herself unattended, the groomer was on a phone talking in another room Cassie had fell off the table and was hanging by her neck, I arrived just at the time this happened to see this, I ran in got her and left, never had anyone groom ours after that. I know there are very nice groomers and I am not saying anything against having someone do the grooming, receiving references to groomers is always beneficial. Just sharing our bad experience and once was enough, I quickly learned to groom our own. If I ever need to let someone do the grooming I will stay and be with ours.

Our prayers for you and your grandparents.

Hugs, Patti and Jack
I have never taken a dog to a groomer- but after reading all the bad experiences on here- have wondered why people do not stay w/ their dog??? I sure it is a"time issue"- but if it "protects" the dog........???????

How sad. I am so sorry for your loss. No, your baby did not deserve to die like that, poor little thing. You have my deepest sympathy.

They won't let you!!!!!!!!!!! At least that is my experience which is why only one of my 3 yorkies has been to a groomer, I believe I took her twice, she is now 5 and I groom them all myself.

I am so heartsick over all of these stories

OMG, I am so sorry to hear this news.. this is terrible.. my heart goes out to you, I know exactly what your going through and how your feeling.. It happened to me.. a death at the hands of a vet not looking at my dogs chart... hugs to you.. praying you find out first and then do something..

Please please do a post mortem.. that way you will have it on paper what happened to him.. but first he needed to be kept cold at a certain temp. to be able to do this.. it is important.. it is not very costly and you and your family need to know what happened to him in order to grief and deal with this..

Rest in peace baby..

So, very sorry for your loss. I am in the process of buying all my own grooming supplies, just so something like this won't happen to my babies. It will be worth my time to learn how to do it.

I am so sorry for your loss. One time when I was at petco, I was opening the door to enter the store when a puppy who was being groomed ran out the door into the parking lot. I tried to catch him, but he kept running. I went in and told the manager - they had no idea that he had gotten out!
After seeing that, I don't trust anyone to groom my babies.
