| ISO: stud in St. Louis I am looking to breed my baby girl. Wanting to find someone local. Wanting 4 lbs or under for weight and AKC registered and must be able to go online and fill out paperwork for puppies, the last time I looked the stud has to do some paperwork also. My dog is 5 lbs. and 2 years old. Hoping to find someone before her next heat which should be soon. Let me know if you have a male and would be interested. I'm not interested in giving away a puppy cause not sure if she will have more than one. Maybe just a stud fee after a confirmed pregnancy. |

| There are more people taken advantage of, lied to, and diseases that can/will permanently cost your female her reproductive capabilities and even her life.....but with you having an interest in doing this, I am confident you have a thorough knowledge and a complete understanding of all the aspects of doing this! I am certain you have already thoroughly reviewed your little girls pedigree and you know what she has behind her for at least 9 generations....I am certain you KNOW you will have to also "vett" the males you allow to breed your baby girl....that way you will be less likely to have deformed babies, or babies that will be/can be prone to genetic deformities, both internally (liver disease, heart defects, bone/joint issues, etc) as well as personality disorders....snappy, yappy, stubborn, biting, fighting, major behavioral short comings in your puppies produced..... Your thorough knowledge of the different lines and what they have a tendency to throw, what lines you can safely combine and what lines you would not dare to combine, like trying to mix gasoline and water..... You have also gotten a firm grasp on the lines in your own dog's pedigree, as well as any female/male you intend to breed. (You may have so much fun doing this, you run out and get a male to use for stud services!)......you understand what two dogs throw, is governed about 90% from genetic makeup of the generations behind your dog and the dog you are breeding.....you may have the sweetest, little female, but in her pedigree, she has thrown lines of dogs that are 6-18 lbs in weight.....of course, if your female breeds someones adorable little male, and she then dies during labor because she has babies that she can not deliver, and she either dies waiting for you to understand what the problem is, or she dies during the c-section to remove the babies....Of course, the bitches owner is going to blame YOU for not knowing your tiny adorable male throws cows......then you will be involved in a quagmire or issues and court proceedings, etc....and as usual, it is the poor, unfortunate little dog that pays with her life......I keep forgetting you are the owner of the female....that of course, really complicates YOUR involvement in all this....it is your little lady's life on the line. Fortunately, you have a thorough and complete knowledge of the lines behind your little lady, so you know what she will have a tendency to throw in a litter of puppies, especially with a complete understanding/knowledge of what is behind the little male you have chosen. You have reviewed contracts and have a complete and thorough understanding of who is responsible for every imaginable aspect of what could go wrong with either the male, the female, or the litter of puppies produced. You know how to be absolutely certain you get YOUR $$$$ out of the breeding, know how to legally assure that the female actually did get pregnant, did have babies, and how many she had...... You would be stunned and amazed, perhaps slightly incredulous, with the number of people that go into "breeding" Yorkies with nothing but a stud, with the absolutely preposterous, misguided belief that THEY will not have any responsibility for any issues from the breeding, all they do is throw two dogs together, let them breed, and collect their money! THEY don't have all the issues with the female, the pregnancy, the litter produced, all the babies, etc..... Boy, do THESE uninformed, misguided, ignorant individuals learn a tough lesson the hard way!! Thank God for lawyers!! Have a good one on retainer!! Good luck with your dream to produce beautiful, well adjusted, healthy puppies......I doff my hat to YOU! It takes so much more money and time and effort to get educated about every single breed/line/genetic make up of every male that people bring to you to breed! Talking figuratively here....it is YOU as owner of the female, that will take YOUR baby girl and leave her at someone's home to be bred to their male.....that has always seemed like a mother dropping her 6 year old daughter off at a carnival for 14-18 hours of fun for a day! Cross your fingers, close your eyes, and pray nothing goes wrong! It takes an enormous amount of energy, money, time and commitment, as well as an airtight legal defense behind you! Make sure you have an airtight contract, drawn up by a great lawyer, that will protect YOU and isolate YOU as much as possible, in the event a disaster occurs with the female, her labor and delivery, or the puppies, even a year or more down the line, that is caused by an unknown male that you have not thoroughly vetted......of course, there are legal issues you have to accept, especially if YOUR female injures the little male during the breeding..... if YOU used your male in the breeding, you are at the very least, 50% responsible for any screw ups!....of course, any major health issues will be "blamed" on your little male! Have all your ducks in a row and rest assured you are able to legally defend YOUR dog's health, pedigree, etc. I almost forgot the aspect of insulating yourself against lawsuits brought against you by the owner of the male. You send your baby girl to unfamiliar property for breeding, because that is what male dogs prefer....he is familiar with his own house/yard/etc, and will more effectively breed a female on his own turf. Make sure your contract covers all aspects of having your female left at unknown/stranger's property.....my gosh, the legal issues and pitfalls people conjure up in order to bleed a "breeder" dry in dirty attempts to extract unjustified money for "imagined" damages done to their precious little boy by YOUR dog, and if you bring the male to YOUR home, lawsuits over your yard, your home and what you use to clean your floors with, that have obviously caused their "Gent's" little feet to bleed and fall off, and all of "Gent's" hair is falling out now, must be something YOU have put down in YOUR yard or on YOUR carpet or floors, etc..... Welcome to the fantastic world of breeding dogs!!! I am just curious what in the world has attracted you to embark on this quite treacherous journey!! | As always you have done a excellent (and, I might add, terrifying portrayal of breeding) not to mention it usually costs more to breed than to purchase a pup! I just got back from Westminster Dog Show ( amazing bucket list trip of a life time). I went with an amazing group of 7 experience breeders who show their Yorkies. These ladies have been educating me for years years of breeding average about -5 years a piece. One of the major topics at the Yorkie specialty was genetic testing and how it is becoming an accepted, and to many mandatory, process in the breeding. I learned so much -- mostly about what I don't know😏 We learned the best genetic tests, their costs ( not too bad, runs a out $210 to do) and the I invaluable information they impart. Talked with several folks who had been watching a certain (quite all thought of line) who had recently seen their offspring dying of enlarged hearts at younger than expected ages. And then came the amazing revolution of the subsequent genetic testing -- which all agreed would have been cheaper, less heart breaking, more likely to have produced quality pups. Bottom line - folks are now asking for the genetic testing of the breeding pairs prior to breeding or purchasing - even for pets. Now, nothing is perfect, of course, but clearly this is the future for the breeders who are breeding for the betterment and health of Yorkies! Sooo, Yorkiemom1 you are right on again. Breeding is not the casual thing many think it is and requires a great deal of education and forethought. Learning all this would make me very cautious about entering my precious baby into this breeding conundrum Keep up the generous sharing!!!!

| I had a gentleman walk up to my car in the grocery store parking lot, while I was waiting for my son to come out after he got off work. He had a little male yorkie and he wanted to know if I would be interested in using that stud on my females..... I wanted to just get stupid and chat with this man, so I would know where he was coming from and where he thought he was going to end up. Terrifying...... he knew absolutely NOTHING about his little males parents, let alone grandparents, great brand parents, etc, back for 9-12 generations.....his little dog was not registered, "but that really is not important, because when you go to sell the pups, you just tell people they can get the puppy unregistered for $650.00 or so, and then you triple the price if they want papers!! THAT is enough to scare them off from wanting the registration papers....and he had been told by a friend that has done this for years, if you only breed a litter or two a year, and you are not registering them, you are flying below the radar and wont have to deal with all those legal eagles and dog registration approvals and such....". He gave me his card with his email on it, so I could get a copy of HIS sale contract, and "as much of a guarantee he gives out....with just the male, he has no responsibility for any deformed, sick babies or litters/moms that dont survive....."slam, bam, thank you ma'am!"...... He was actually educating me on how to screw people out of money for stud fees, without assuming any legal responsibility for the mother and the off spring....when I acted a little puzzled and concerned about the poor dogs/puppies that may suffer because of poor breeding, he laughed and told me I may not be "cut out to do this after all....this is a business, and you just can not concern yourself about all the if's, ands or buts".....dogs live, dogs die...." These are the predators that are out there, breeding yorkies and collecting $$$$$$$$.....so, the next time you think a reputable breeder is trying to gyp you out of money, or you think the prices she has on her babies is outrageous, just consider what predators are out there, roaming around, looking for you and your desire to own a yorkie.
