Yes, I had called about him and went to go see him, hoping I would find a friend for Tucker. However, the family seemed very suspicious to me. This lady has other dogs, and I did not want to reward her by paying her anything. I was very suspicious of the injuries too, and told her that a bark collar should not be used on such a small dog. He didn't even seem like a barker to me. Even so, it's nothing anyone could really do about, as far as pressing charges, fines, etc.

I hope he finds a good home too.

Changing topics, do you live in the GJ area? Parhaps we could meet up some time?

Love Not so easy

I would love to rescue him! However, It's very easy to think he should be rescued just like that but it is not that easy. To "rescue" a dog, you must be sure you can better his situation. Unfortunatly, I do not have the time at this particular moment to do that. I am leaving to go to Phoenix for the next three weeks and can't imagine taking in a new family member just prior to that. I would then have to take two dogs with me on the plane, which is 1) not allowed and 2) a very stressfull thing for a dog who doesn't really know me yet.

I do hope that some one gives him a great new home. Unfortunatly, that person isn't me at this precise time.

Default Yorkie in Grand Junction

Well, Yorkie Rescue Colorado would be happy to take him if she wants to surrender him. All of this makes me so sick. The dog needs to be in a place where he is loved and cared for. We do not pay for dogs, so I suppose she will not surrender him to us. If you send me her name and number I will call and offer to take him. He must be so traumatized by the bark collar that he's going to take some time to be able to trust people again. This little guy needs to be out of there! How sad!

Hi Trish,
I am interested in providing a forever home for one of your rescues. Could you please provide me with some info on where you are located and what your criteria is for adopting?
Thanks, Rose

Well, As far as how much they want. The ad in the newspaper said that she wanted 400.00 obo. I called and after talking to her and getting backround info on the pup, I asked if she would take 200.00 for him and if it didn't work out with us would she be willing to take him back. (If I had a pup I needed to rehome, that's what I would want) She originally said yes to the 200.00 and that she would be will to take him back, if we were not the perfect home for him.
So my son and I went to visit, on Tues night. She said she had one other person that called before me and that she wanted them to see the pup also. So I called Wed morning to see if the other person was interested. She then told me he was still available. So we went back over yesterday morning. We talked for a while and my heart melted for that poor little guy and I was going to take him. Then I said are we still in agreement on the price and if things don't work out that I can return him to you? She said, well someone called this morning and said they would pay me the full 400.00, and did not ask if they could return him if things didn't work out.
Needless to say, she would not sell me the pup, unless I was willing to pay more for him then we originally agreed apon.

Oh yeah, her interest is definately for the well being of that pup. By the way the reason I didn't see the sore on his neck the first night, was because he had a little sweater on, she told me she just had both of her pups clipped and he was cold. Also wouldn't the sore have been in the front of his neck, and not on the side of his neck, from a bark collar? I thought they work from the vibration of the vocal chords?
In the end, I can only hope that the pup goes to a really loving home.

Also, as far as the sore on the side of his neck goes, the humane society probably would have just given her a warning. I have delt with them in the past, with a neighbors bitting dog and the dog is still with my neighbors.
Even if the humane society just gives a warning..lots of warnings add up..maybe she has had warnings before and this one will be the straw that broke the camels' back..if you know what I mean..if he has sores on him he needs to seek medical treatment..I feel so bad knowing that he is so close yet so far away from being rescued...
