| Need to find a home for my baby. I have a one year old male yorkie who is VERY sweet to people, but he will not stop attacking my cat.. My boyfriend is at wits end, and so I need to find a home for my yorkie, where there aren't any other pets. He is a very loving dog. I'm just at a loss, and completely devastated..and if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks. |

| I'm sorry you have to consider rehoming your little guy because of your cat. Sorry, I'm really not a cat person. So I really don't know what to tell you. I hope someone here can give you some suggestions so you won't have to give him up. Is keeping him still a possibility? I hope someone can help.

| I'm sorry that you are going thru this. Have you considered a personal trainer? They might be able to offer some advice/help with why he may be doing it. ? Best of luck.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Have you tried the suggestions mentioned in your Feb. thread? If you tried the squirt bottle like recommended, I really don't see why it hasn't worked? The foster girl I currently have has been able to sleep with our cat now, after using the squirt bottle method, training took less than a week. I trust her completely with our cat now, when at first there was no way I could leave the cat with her - she would have killed him then! If you've seriously tried training and it's not working maybe the best thing is for you to rehome Riley.....you have to do what's best for your kitty and Riley. If you're going to rehome Riley, I would strongly suggest you consider surrendering him to a good, reputable rescue - unless you are prepared to spend hours checking references and doing home visits - I wouldn't rehome a dog any other way. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...ious-help.html

| I have used the spray bottle.. and it works when he isnt in attack mode, but once he is latched on to the cat its impossible for the spray bottle to work. Last night he was so attached, that when my boyfriend tried to grab riley to seperate, the cat lifted in the air with Riley.. The cat is a 20 lb cat.. We talked it over, and we're going to try and find a trainer of some sort, because there are several behaviors that need to change, that being a big one. I just don't want the behavior to turn to people, as we have a 3 year old. I'm going to continue with the spray bottle, and he has way too much freedom, so he's going to have to learn to be caged, which we don't generally cage him when we're gone b/c he poops in the cage, and its a mess. So I've gotta take back the role as the pack leader.. its just going to be difficult. I was also told to keep him on the leash while he's out.. do you recommend this? Riley is a male dog, so he wants to be the dominate king, so we're also going ot get him fixed. We had planned on doing so anyways, but definitely now. The things thats going to be hard now, is finding a trainer to help us, at a nonexpensive price. |

| I"m sorry, we have decided to keep him and try to retrain him and work with him.. In my last post, I noted that we had changed our minds and were going to try and work with him. He's done really well and is trying to be friends with the cat. |

Also, you can look at the website www.friendsofanimals.org at this site you can purchase spay/neuter at a price, and obtain a voucher. Then, take the dog to a vet near your home.
