Are you guys really going camping sometime? Are you going in Indiana or somewhere around here? With this beautiful spring weather I'm really ready to go camping. Sugar loves camping. I had her groomed short today so that she doesn't get covered w/ briars while we're doing trails. She's a princess but she likes to be a tom boy also.

We go to the Indiana State Dunns a few times a year, is this close to you?

I'm in Noblesville which is just north of Indianapolis. We've been talking about going to the Dunes this summer or next. We've never been there before. I think it's about 2 - 2 1/2 hours away. Are the campgrounds nice there?

I am so so serious about camping.. there aren't many places here to go camping... at least nothing I have found..

Jakub and I have already said that we will drive the distance just to meet with Missy and TBK (and whomever wants to join us)..

I went to Target today (mainly to get tennis balls for Evie) and we went to look at tents...
omg I'm gonna need help with this.. they all look pretty much the same.. the price just jumps

We have one w/ a screened in front porch area and it was so nice to have that extra room to keep our bags in and we were able to put our shoes and flashlights, etc there so that we had room to spread out our sleeping bags in the main portion of the tent. I can't remember how many people our tent was supposed to hold. It was a big one. When they say how many people the tent is for on the label they are assuming you are going to cram everyone in sardine style. We liked to use air mattresses in our tent when we used it so we had a tent large enough to have 2 full size (or maybe queen size) air beds for us and my parents and two kid size sleeping bags for my girls. Buy a tarp to go under it and maybe one that can go over it so that if it rains you won't end up drenched. We have a trailer now but when we used to go tent camping it would always storm. We still had a blast even if we woke up in a puddle. My mom likes our trailer, but if dad goes w/ us also they usually take their tent and sleep in it instead. It is nice and peaceful to sleep under the stars.

Let me know when and where you're going camping and maybe we can meet. Sugar loves to go camping. Rem, my mini schnauzer, doesn't like it so he might get to stay w/ Gpa this year when we go camping. He just wanted to lay on the couch and watch tv. He's too funny...and very spoiled!

Oh, I meant to ask if any of you have kids. I have two daughters who will be 6 & 8 this camping season. They love making new friends so if you have any kids (boys or girls) they'd love to meet them and make new camping buddies.

Smart move...live your life and enjoy each other before you have kids. Kids are wonderful, but they totally change your life. I was 29 when I had my first. I'm almost 37 now.

A tarp is kind of like a thick plastic sheet that you can lay on the ground under your tent, and then drape another one over the tent, so that if it rains you don't get soaked. Most tents come w/ a cover that goes over the very top but most tents can't withstand a rainstorm. They're okay in a light drizzle, but if it rains for a while you'll end up w/ a wet tent. Ours was okay until it rained all day and all night...then we had a huge puddle inside our tent. You might not want the tarp over the top of your tent if there's no threat of rain, but it's still good to have just in case you need it. We always put one under our tent because it keeps the floor drier and it forms a barrier between the ground (rocks, roots, sticks, bugs, etc) and the bottom of your tent. You can get them at Walmart, sporting goods stores, I'm sure Target would have them in their camping dept. It's a pretty basic item. I hope you can find a tent that you like that isn't too expensive.
