| ready to call it quites on resuce cozmo I can't handle it anymore. Cozmo went good potty outside. Much Praise is given and good potty treat. Then not even 2 hours later again he poops 6 times all over the kitchen and hallway. Now this is a everyday thing. I have tried and I have gotten attach to him. But I can't take this pooping all over the house. He has had 3 good day out of 2 weeks. You can keep an eye on him and he will play with you. Then during while play fetch he will act like he is playing with the ball and guess what. Yes, you guessed it he poops. I have been doing the crate training thing. And as long as he goes potty he gets to play out of the crate. If you catch him in the act. I tell him no potty and will take him outside and say good potty, then tell him this is good potty. Then Cozmo just looks at you like I am dumber than a box of rocks, and gives you a look like that is what you think. And we will wait and walk outside and I will keep telling go good potty. And NO potty at all. Then I will bring him back in and put him in the crate. Wait half hour and out we go again. This goes on all day and night. There is times where he won't go but once a day. I am very sad I feel so bad. Like I have failed Cozmo. My heart is broken because I fill like I am a failure.

| sounds like he poops a lot. Mine are only puppies and go once in morning and once in evening ... is he allowed to eat from an open bowl ? If so that could be the problem .

| The vet said from what the report said at his old Vets that he was doing this when he lived with the older gentleman. So I know it is not that. He just likes to poop in the house..........

If he's on good quality food, and he doesn't have medical problems, it must be that he just doesn't understand where to go yet. How long have you had him?

Donating Yorkie Yakker | I don't know what to say to help you- i feel so bad for you AND the puppy. It's hard, I had that for 2 weeks with mine until he got better, just know that someone is thinking of you, if that puppy didn't have you, someone else might have already done something horrible to him! I hope something gets better for you guys! |

| My pup used to just go in the crate when I was trying to crate train her-- she came out of a rescue situation too and was sadly much too used to standing around in her own poo to really care. She would also run wherever I wasn't in the house and poo whenever she got the chance. Eventually I gave up on crate-training as a full solution and just used a leash to keep her more or less tethered to me so that the very moment she began to look like she needed to go out, I could grab her and run her outside. I would literally have her within four feet of me at all times when I was at home. We had to do that for about a month, but eventually the constant, constant reinforcement finally seemed to work, and things snapped right into place for her. She now only rarely has an accident inside, and I've restarted crate training too-- she seems to have forgotten that it was once OK to potty in her cage, and things are going really smoothly now.

She will pee out side and come in to poop..go figure.. some how I have given her that ideal pee out side poop inside is good and I can not break it.. so now it is poty pads in an area inside and I placed a carpet SQ, out side with a poty pad on it Hey!! starting to work... I also been spraying ..No Go.. on areas she makes a mistake on..or I do not want to her to go..Only thing with that it stinks and it does not last more than a few days

| Don't give up! Your're not a failure! He's got some habits that need to me modified, two weeks is hardly enough time to say you are throwing in the towel. Maybe you should change your "no potty" and "good potty", since they both have the word "potty" it can confuse him. When he does do the good potty, do a high praise sound like saying "yea....good cosmo" clap your hands and jump up and down. You may feel stupid doing it, but he will pick up that going potty outside means fun excitement Mommy. |

| Thanks for all your helpful info. Cozmo will be 2 in Jan. When he is not in his crate we play with him and Deiter. We usually play fetch with them and just let the two of them play right in front of us. We keep a wee wee pad in the xpen but he has never ever went on it. I never thought about keeping him on a lead with me while he is out. I might have to try that. But I don't think he or Deiter will like that beings they won't be able to play. Yes, when he potty's outside. I look like a big fool.. I jump up and down my voice gets that excited voice, Good Cozmo so on and so on. Also do the same thing when Deiter goes so that way Cozmo sees this is a good thing but that hasn't worked either. Thanks again for all your help.

| Ahhh Lynda, everyone knows the good thing you've done with Cozmo. I did try the leash attached to me with Coby for a short time. It did help. It not only gave me more access to him, it also REMINDED me to watch him, and it kept his focus on me. Maybe play time with Deiter can be his reward. While I don't believe this is Cozmo's problem, Grayxie's suggestion of not using "potty" in both the good and bad moments is a good one. I've heard that on the dog training shows before. Maybe just stick to "No" for accidents. Don't give up just yet. While it may end up being too much for your family and sanity, make sure that you've given him all you can. That way, whatever your decision, you won't have any regrets.

| I would also keep him leashed to me inside when not in the crate. Also I would not let him play outside. Outside for now should strictly be for going potty. Otherwise he will play and not do his business. Take him out on the leash and tell him to potty. Of course lots of praise when he goes and back in with no speaking or playing if he doesn't. This sounds like work (which it is) but should pay off with time and consistency. Good luck! |
