| So should I bring this up to the breeder? The fact that Shadow only has one testicle???? Should she pay for the neutering?? Thanks. |

| You should absolutely notify the breeder. I don't know who would pay.... a lot would depend upon your contract and health guarantee. Neutering a cryptoid dog can be a lot more complicated than one with both testicles descended. btw.... are you sure that he only has one or just one that has dropped? |

| I'm sure he HAS two.. but only one has dropped. Be sure you get him neutered though, because I believe it greatly increases cancer. I think you should definitely let the breeder know, as it's hereditary. I'm not sure why the breeder should pay for the surgery though? Last edited by BubblPopElectrc; 10-26-2007 at 09:08 AM. |

| I would definitely notify the breeder as cryptorchidism is genetic. She really should check out the males in her lines and not be breeding the ones that carry that gene. I don't know if you should expect her to pay for the neuter though unless there is something in the contract that states she would... You also do need to get him neutered as it is genetic and a retained testicle has 10 times the risk of developing cancer.

| How old is he? There is a lot of good info in here if you do a search of it. They have up to 8-9 months for them both to drop I think. I sold a twelve week old boy last year that only had one dropped. i told the buyer ahead of time and she still wanted him. He is about eight months old now and has them both down. i think you should give it time. I also think you should notify the breeder of the possible problem and give it time. i don't know of any breeders contract tho that covers testicules not dropping. mine doesn't but I would want to know about it. Also vets are divided as to if it is heridtory or not. |

Most life threatening issues are covered in the contract. This doesn't happen to be one. However, if the breeder was aware of it, it should have been mentioned and maybe a discounted price offered, if the testicle did not drop, as peforming a nueter would be major surgery. Waiting till the pup is 8 or 9 months for nuetering is advisable to see if the testicle will drop.

| We have a male that didn't get both of his little 'marbles' until he was 15 months old. From what I have come to understand, it is more frequent to have them not descend and takes longer with the smaller Yorkies. |

| My little guy was almost 10 months before both of his came down. Give him some time, he may just be a little shy. Also, don't feel ripped off. He is your baby!

| Again, it is also dependent on the line.....I have pups from one stud here that his pups are usually can be felt by 4 weeks of age and usually seated by 3 months......and from another stud....not in place until 8 or 9 months....now those lil guys and suck up those lil easter eggs at will.

| how old is your little boy? i thought my boy had only one testicle, but the other one took months and months to finally dropped... it was weird, but now he has two. when the other one finally dropped, one was smaller than the other, but now both are the same size. my vet thinks i should breed my simba. she thinks he's the best looking yorkie she has ever seen at her hospital. anyways, the other might drop. you have to massage it out if you know where the other one is. somewhere in the abdomen?

| I'd let the breeder know, as you did pay a lot of money. Maybe she'll offer to pay half.

| Definitely mention it to the breeder, but there's not reason for her to pay unless it was in your contract.
