| Why? Why? Why? Would someone come onto a Yorkshire Terrior forum, knowing that we love these dogs to death. AND tell us they regret getting there dog because of a training issue. I don't know about you, but to me it makes me really mad!!! And you know what, I bet its the parents that arn't taking the time to work with it on it being trained!!! For example, potty training can't happen over night, and sometime it take UP TO a year. It something that you have to work at. I am just tired of ppl coming on here and complaining about there dogs. Sorry just needed to vent!!!! Theres a lot of issues going on with a few ppl here at YT.. and its sad. |

| It makes me mad too. It makes me even madder when they've only had the baby 2 or 3 days and are already complaining and frustrated and ready to give the baby up. Susanah is 7 months old. I've had her since she was 12 weeks. She is STILL not potty trained, and I work with her all the time.

| I agree. seems like a lot of people expecting 5, 6, 7 month old PUPPIES to be fully trained. i'm sorry...but these dogs require a lot of work. really...ANY dog would require a lot of work. there are exceptions...and I was blessed to have one of those exceptions when it comes to potty training. but if you are out buying a puppy...you better be ready to take on the responsibility of TRAINING it and working with it...and not acting like it is the anti-christ because it isn't trained at 6 months old. yes, i know training is hard, and frustrating at times. but so is a lot of other things in life that we choose to take on...our jobs, children.... and yes...you come to a forum where there are people extremely passionate and IN LOVE with their furbabies, and you can't say a single positive thing about your PUPPY??? well....go for it...but dont' expect to get by with it without some negative feedback!! we are here if you want to LEARN or if you are looking for support...but don't expect to get it by coming on here and talking about how you regret your decision and how BAD your puppy is. Bad dogs usually come from bad owners IMO

| i agree, if people had done their research prior to getting their Yorkie they would know, and especially if they already owned another yorkie... its an ongoing process, i don't think it's ever really over, Belle is 1 and a half and she just recently stopped going in the house...and i've had her since she was 9 weeks old

| I've seen it often myself and it's a shame...sometimes I wonder how these same people cope with life in general.....

| it does take time to train any puppy, people tend to expect alot out of animals but they are like kids and do have accidents when being trianed. for me i consider them trained when they ask to go out and if there is pee or poop in the house its usually our fault for not noticing them asking. ( although lacey is too funny she tells on herslef after she pees in the house along with asking to go out lol) then you get a few years of them all trained and they get old and start peeing in the house again grrrr.

| If people don't have the patience to work with their dog, then maybe it is better that they give them away. Who knows what else they don't have patience for? But I agree, why come on here to vent about what we love?

| When I was at Petsmart last night I was waling down thru an aisle and this older lady with a BEAUTIFUL yorkie was doing the obedience class thing in there and she stopped and asked me about Maggie. Then she says real disgusted like, "Don't ever get a standard yorkie, they are untrainable" !! She said I have to keep her fur short because she won't let me groom her and on and on ... I just stood there kinda dumbfounded, so did my husband. I thought back to a few minutes earlier when I was trying to get Maggies devil hat on to get her pic taken and she was just carrying on !! lol She's almost impossible to groom, hates clothes and bows and trying to pick her up without a chasedown ... !! lol But I love her unconditionally even though she's a mess !! lmao Then I ran into another older lady and she had THE most cutest little male yorkie. OMG he was adorable !!! She said if only I could get him broke !! He was 12 weeks old for petes sake !!! I told her that too (nicely) People, people !!! |
