| cotton coat Ok, I have a few question on cotton coat. Cozmo has a cotton coat. 1. How to tame down 2. Doesn't it part down the middle like silky hair 3. what is the best conditioner to use. 4. Does it always look greasy 5. Is it easier to keep shorter than longer. 6. why is it always look worse than a silky hair. As you can see here is a couple of pictures of Cozmo. I hope that you can tell what I am talking about with the pictures. His last hair cut was in April we were told. So I take it that his hair doesn't grow very fast. So is that normal with cotton coat.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | my morgan has a cotton coat. its not easy to tame so i just keep her in a puppy cut. she needs a bath at least once a week because she looks greasy on her head. when it grows out, even to 3-4 inches it doesn't part, it just sticks up in all directions like a poof ball. And when it gets to this length it starts to matt close to her body so she would need to be brushed a few times a day which she hates and i have no time for. I don't use conditioner because her hair gets greasier faster when this is used. overall, with her puppy cut, i think she looks friggin adorable b/c she has a poofy head. seeeeee

| My Tino has a cottony coat. We like to keep him in a puppy cut....but his coat grows so very fast that I have to trim him every other week. I like to use biolage "people" shampoo and conditioner...I have tried others, but it seems to work best

| Boy was I wrong with my vision of what a cottony coat was... I thought Sarge had a cottony coat because he is litterally fluffy and ultra-soft. I guess its just puppy hair? I'm still a little yorkie-naive.

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | OK, I'm far from an expert, but... Quote: Observation 1) - Cozmo's eyes are reflecting green. Many hold (as do I) that this is a strong indication that the coat is silk. Maybe give him more time? That's why I asked about his age. Observation 2) - Cotton Coats seem (as indicated here by replies, also) to grow much faster than silk. My Abigail is silk, and she grows painfully slowly. She'll be two in December, and the coat is still not to the floor. *sigh* Almost, though! Observation 3) - "Does it always look greasy?" - I have to bathe Abigail every fourth day, or she looks like she fell into a grease pit. And, I don't use any after bath product on her. Just shampoo and conditioner - which I rinse very thoroughly. Even when I don't condition, she still looks greasy a few days after her bath. I've read more silk coat owners comment on this than Cotton Coats. 3. what is the best conditioner to use - Some Cotton Coat owners seem pleased with Cowboy Magic

| Now i'm unsure about Belle, because she doesnt really ever look greasy, and he hair parts down the middle, and is not poofy, but it's not shiny and whatnot like the silky hair, although on her paws, and belly her hair looks like it's silky... her hair grows fairly quickly... is it possible that she's a little of both?
