| Olivia's trip to the vet What a day! Olivia is usually a really good car baby- she usually goes right to sleep. My bf and I set out to take her to the vet Saturday morning. We took my car- a standard- and Jason drove so I could hold Olivia. He's not as good of a standard driver as me (out of practice) and the car ride was not so smooth at first! Olivia started to act like she was going to get sick, so I put her on the floor. She just sat and looked at me with pathetic little eyes, so I put her back in my lap. After a 40 minute drive, we got to the vet. Olivia drooled a little bit in my lap while she was sleeping- no big deal. I looked up and said something to Jason and my leg felt really wet- I looked down and... Olivia got sick with no sound whatsoever! Jason had to go get a roll of paper towels from the vet to clean up me and the car. (By the way...Miss Olivia got caught eating the kitty food! LOL!) She had to get her last set of shots- 4 of them, poor thing. The vet tech brought her back to us and said it was very tramatic for her, so I'm assuming she gave them a little attitude!! Well, anyway, for the next 5 or so hours she acted really funny- very lethargic, with her little ears back like she was in trouble. She just laid and slept for hours. I'm not sure if it was the car ride or the shots that did her in. Have your babies acting funny after their shots? Btw... she gain a pound in 3 weeks! Is this too much! I was worried at first that she wasn't eating enough, now I'm worried she's eating too much!!! Don't yorkies stop growing around 5-6 months? Or is it later? |

| I am sure Olivia will be fine after eveything gets back to normal. My Jewels has gotten sick after car rides and shots. Also both my dogs have gained a lb after 3 weeks so I consider that normal growth. They have periods where they grow more and some when they don't.

| One of the first things we bought Maggie when we got her, was a carseat. She never got sick in the car. The carseat is elevated, so she could see out. I guess that kept her mind occupied. Her shots have never bothered her. Mag's vet does not give multiple shots each visit. He said it was too hard on these little ones. It was a few more trips to the vet than normal, but she never showed any reaction to the shots.

| I wouldn't worry about the car sickness except to be prepared with cleaning supplies. Chai gets carsick so I try to always be prepared. The carseat would help some or soem say put them in a crate and cover it with a blanket so they cannot see the movement around the. I think it was the vaccines that made her so lethargic because they usually bounce back from car sickness almost immediately after the ride is over. Hope she is feeling all better now. |

| If your baby gets carsick in the future, talk to your vet. While I was at the vet's office today, there was a scrolling information sign that indicated that there are meds that can be prescribed for your baby if necessary.

| Oh Olivia!!!! I hope you are feeling better! Shots are yucky! I had mine on Saturday. It didn't slow me down but that is because mommy says I'm really a rottweiller in a yorkie suit! I eat cat food too! Mommy always yells at me, but not as much as the cats do! She keeps hiding it up on the counter. One of these days mommy, I'll find a way to get up there. Smokey cat is too fat anyway, he needs me to help be on a diet! I will be thinking about you and hope you are feeling all better soon! Love, Tucker S
