Donating Yorkie Yakker | I might have a problem? Hi everyone! I have my heart set on a little girl, Gabby, that we should be getting in December. A tiny yorkie that gets loose alot was here again today, and this time, I brought her in to see skippy, since Gabby will be here soon, to see how he would do. Well, he sniffed for about 30 seconds, then started barking at her. I picked her up and he was trying to jump up to get at her. I am concerned now- do you think I might have a problem with my new girl when I get her? What should I do? Thanks, love any help anyone can give!!! |

| Was he being aggressive or just really really excited and wanting to play? Sometimes dogs need time to get used to each other before they get along well, and some adults will tolerate puppies better than they will other adult dogs. You'll want to supervise your new puppy and your current dog around each other all the time at first to make sure they get along okay. Also, the owners of that loose yorkie need to understand how fragile a yorkie is and keep her securely in the house! They're lucky she hasn't been run over or stolen

| I don't think. You will just have to give it sometime. When I brought Aubrey home all he did for the first week was sniff and jump at Dakota. Now they are best of friends. Bring Skippy with you when you go and get Gabby! Good luck. |

Donating Yorkie Yakker | She has gotten loose about 10 times in the last 2 years. She always seems to wander this way, across the park. If she went the opposite direction, she would run into a busy 45 mph road. The first and second time we took her back, I chided the Mom, I felt bad then afterwards, but it bothered me so much and I would hate to hear she got hit. Now I just walk her over or one of my boys takes her home. They have 2 or 3 small kids, but I can't imagine not keeping my eye on her...she's so tiny and sweet, about 2 or 3 pounds and 12 years old. |

Donating Yorkie Yakker | Skippy seemed to be mad at this little dog. I didn't want to put her back downafter he started to act like he did. |

| He could act differently with a puppy. I'd just supervise them and let him get used to the puppy slowly...making sure you still show him a ton of attention. I'm sure he'll get used to the puppy with some time.

| When you introduce him to your new furbaby, sometimes it is better to do it outside, or somewhere else. He won't be so defensive of his house. After he gets to sniff and get acquainted he will be more willing to let the newcomer in. It sounds like you will have to give him some extra attention at first. The new puppy won't mind, she is used to sharing her mommy with litter mates; but your boy hasn't had to share for a while. Good luck, it will be fine in time I know.

| sounds like he might be territorial. i had a problem a few months back with my two yorkies. i brought home a 6 month old girl. i wanted them to meet, so i brought her to them. my boy sure didn't like her and my girl didn't care for her. the next few days they didn't even play with her. it was very sad so i had to return her to the previous owner. luckily they took her back. so the thing is i didn't know i wasn't suppose to bring her inside the house because dogs can get very territorial. so i learned and when i got my new baby girl bella, i let them meet outside the house and they love her! anyways, my point is.. you have to let them meet outside, maybe in the front yard because if you bring her in the house, you passed his territory. just let them meet somewhere other than his area and let them sniff one another. i hope this helps! if it doesn't then i'm very sorry because i don't know what else! goodluck!

| I think you're going just going to be patient with him having someone come into his domain. I'm sure he'll adjust just give him some time, and try to introduce him on neutral ground.

| I'm glad it's going okay. Just be patient and give them time. Give your boy lots and lots of attention so he doesn't get jealous. I think as she grows up, he'll learn to like her
