Wirey Coats Does Anyone Wth A Wirey Coat Yorkie Have Pictures Of Them As A Pup? Sophie Doesnt Seem To Be Growing Much Hair On Her Belly But She Is Growing It On Her Head And Legs. We Saw Another Yorkie At The Pet Store While We Were Shopping For A Little Sweater And It Looked Nothing Like Ours. It Was A Cute Little Fur Ball. Our Is A Little Cutie Minus The Fur.

Well I just talked to the breeder and asked why her body hair (Sophie's) is not growing. She said that blue/gold yorkies always have bad coats. Has anyone ever heard this before? This is the first I've heard of this. Does this mean she will never grow hair? She also told me to give the puppy seameal? Thant helps the coat she said.

| She was born with a blue and gold coat? yes, that's bad. From what I know, it is some type of genetic defect. There's not much you can do about it, maybe the seameal will help. I'm just wondering.. Why would a breeder sell a defective pup, without making sure the buyer knew exactly what they were getting? Doesnt sound very reputable to me.

Hict The breeder was out of East Hartford, CT and she never mentioned there being a problem with the coat until i emailed her about Sophie. She said she has been using solid gold seameal on the remaining male and he has a beautiful coat. So we will try it. Do you have a blue and gold as well and if so can you send some pictures. I hope the health of the puppy will not be affected by the coat. This was a purchase my 10 year old made with her own money and has cared for the puppy(with our help) I never heard that about blue/gold yorkies before.

blue and gold are standard colors for a yorkie lol. doesnt mean they have bad coats. You wont know what color they truely are too much older. Blue born yorkies are totally different they are born and look blue and that is a mutation like chocolate and blonde. I heard they do not grow hair that well and their skin is very painful to them. I think im in the right direction but may be a little wrong. so your babies hair has never been cut? she was born like this? hopefully someone will let us know

I think the breeder is wrong telling you that all blue and gold yorkies have bad hair. How long have you had this puppy and how old is she? She almost looks like she is shaved down on her body. Did you see her parents? Could just be a case of poor breeding and poor genetics. Look at the dogs in the show ring. They are blue and gold and have beautiful coats.

yeah im pretty sure the pups are blue born after researching it and from yorkierose's info. she says that the parts on yorkies that are tan like the head and feet the hair grows but usually the saddle part (which is blue for them) falls out or never grows. the breeder either doesnt know they are blue born or just failed to tell you this to make money off of the pups. Most of the time blue borns are sold for less. Last edited by Txgurl06; 10-19-2007 at 06:00 PM.
