| 10 Tips on How to Choose a Toy Dog Breeder I recently wrote this article in my blog about "10 Tips on how to choose a Toy Dog Breeder" http://www.swankpets.com/blog/?p=34 I think it would great for new people trying to look for a breeder. I was hoping to also get some other suggestions from all of you so I can add another 10 tips later on. I see so many people unaware of faulty and bad breeders. I am hoping to educate people in hopes to help curb puppy mills and bad breeders. Thanks!

| The article was nice but it kinda comes off as a plug for your own yorkies AND you use the word that most reputable breeders don't "teacup". I think Munchkin is adorable but that's the only one you have pictures of on your site(unless I'm missing something). Munchkin isn't close to standard and it's always important to know what the father and mother look like. I love when breeders have pedigrees and past pictures of litters so you better know what their dogs look like. That way you can see just how long they've been doing this and what they strive for their dogs to be. There's one site I like to look at their puppies online but for a few reasons I'd never buy from them: they seem to only have one puppy for sale at a time from a litter, always a girl(now this seems like a broker to me 'cause honestly, how many litters have just girls and only one tiny?). NEVER pictures of the parents, never past pictures. On the other hand if there are too many litters that screams "greedy" and not caring about their lines.

Yes, you are right, Teacup is not an actual breed of Yorkie, nor is it the standard. That's why I used the Quotation marks. Most people don't understand this, so its just easier to say teacup to describe small dogs. if i had a dollar for everytime i explained this to someone, i'd be rich! My dogs usually are in the 3-5 pound range. And you are right again, you have to look at the entire lineage of dogs, not just the parents, in order to get consistent looks, traits, and health. Muchkin is the only Yorkie on our site right now for web optimization reasons. I've just been behind on posting our 3 other Yorkies' pictures. Our website sells dog products. We don't really have a dog breeding website or advertise it a whole lot. Just word of mouth. And yes, Munchkin is definitely not a standard Yorkie. She was the runt, who we raised and decided to keep. Fortunately, she's never had any health problems. The father was 3 pounds and the mother was 4.5 lbs. I will add your comments into a later blog post once I compile enough tips from other people and myself. They are great suggestions and thanks for your input!
