| Newborn- Fussy Eater I had a litter of three puppies born 6/4/05. One male and female who weighed 3 oz at birth. Third puppy a female weighed 2 oz. All seemed to eat and were strong at first. The little gal was falling behind. Her little mouth seemed so small she could not get a good hold and nurse. I tried opening her mouth and placing her on the nipple. Did not work. I bought all different types of puppy formula- goats milk- made formula from scratch- tried soy milk- tried infant fomula- I would have bought milk from Elsie the cow if I thought it would worked. Miss fuss pot still was not happy. Well low and behold she likes plain old carnation evaporated milk. It is the wildest thing I have had happen in quite a while. It is agreeing with her and no upset stomach and she is growing. She is three weeks old today and is up to a whole 7 1/4 oz. She is strong moves along with the other babies- bright and alert. She knows when it is time for me to feed her- she roots like a little pig. I have been feeding her every three to four hours during the day and let her mom take the night shift. Wnalegria |
