Default New yorkie owner

Hello Group,

I am sure many of you have posted new yorkie owner posts, but this is my first. I have an almost 6 month yorkie that we bought from a breeder at 4 mos. She was sold to us for 1800 dollars as a show and breeding dog. Since bringing the little doll home, we discovered she has a lazy eye, and a very arched back.
We are sure these items forbid us from showing her, and breeding her, and I want to hear comments on these items. I don't know if her arched back can disqualify her from being in the show ring because she does not conform to breed standards, and also if the lazy eye will get better. It has shown some inprovement. l I feel that the breeders overcharged us for her on the premise that she would be a show dog and a breeder, however she is only 3 lbs. 2 oz and I think she is too small to breed safely.

I still have 4 mos in which to ask for a partial refumd of the 1800 dollars my 19 yr old daughter paid for her and I think I am right in asking for a partial refund based on the fact that we can't show her, or breed her due to her small size.

I would like to hear from other owners regarding these issues, this is my first yorkie, and I love her to pieces, but I feel it is only fair to aske for a lower price based on our findings.

Also, if anyone has experience with an arched back in a yorkie, please reply to this post as I woudl like to hear you comments, bad or good.

Sincerely,

Sherrill

I think getting a partial refund would be good.. Talk to some show breeders here they will help you!

Animal Smiley 019 its stephyylove-reply to Vanmomzie post

Hello ,
And thank you so much for replying to my post. This is all new to me, as is the puppy so I am trying to get information anywhere I can. It's not really the money that I need the partial refund for, it's the principal of the matter that they sold my young daughter a dog that was supposed to be show, breed , etc. quality and she probably isn't. I think that was deceptive, and I want my daughter to pay a fair price for a pet-quality dog and $1800 dollars is a bit steep. I feel about $1000 to $1200 is fair price for a beautiful dog such as she is so I will have to email them and let them know how we feel and the rest is up to them.

I will look into contacting breeders via this group, and thanks again for your support.

Default alex_143- reply from Sherrill

Hello,

Thank you for your warm welcome and taking the time to answer my post. I will certainly look into breeders in this group and see what they have to say.
I just said to another posting that I think $1800 dollars is a bit steep for a pet quality dog who was supposed to be show and breeding quality. My daughter is kind of sorrowful that she won't be able to show this little girl because she is so pretty in the face but her back is definitely humped and all possibilities of genetic dysfuntion aside, I hope that she doesn't have any health issues stemming from this arched spine thing. I really feel they overcharged us, and knowingly, because whe we picked her up she had hair covering her entire gface and eyes, therefore we did not see the lazy eye thing, and because my daughter was the only one to hold her for several days, we did not notice the arched bak issue for another week.

I will look into talking with breeders and getting their opinion.
Thaks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

Welcome to YorkieTalk. My Yorkie has roachback also. The breeder did say that we could show her. Yeah, right. Atleast we didn't pay too much. That is quite a bit of money for a Yorkie that can't be shown or bred, so you could try to get some money back...

Welcome to Y.T. ...I agree with Ellie May in that it sounds like your yorkie may have "Roach Back"....this seems like a large amount to have paid for a yorkie with problems...if she is willing to give a partial refund I'd get your vet to confirm your yorkies condition and present it to her.....Good luck

Where is the hump? Is it square in the middle of her back? Or is it in the rear? At this age, she can grow out of that. My dog that I'm currently showing will look like he has a hump one day and nice and straight the next. In some lines, that's part of their growing process. I'm not sure about the eye though.

Welcome to YT. I would definetly ask for a partial refund based on what you've told us.
