| More Nueter Questions As you all know Finnigen was nuetered today. He has a onesie on to keep from licking and I have a E collar for him if he needs it. My question is how do I leave him alone if he has to have the collar on for 5-7 days... usually I crate him if I run an errand and at night...but he can't turn around in his kennel with the collar on. Is the onesie enough to keep him from licking/scratching... can I kennel him for the night. I don't leave him for any length of time in his crate.... usually 1-2 hours if I have an errand where I can't take him and 7-8 hours at night. Help what do I do? |

| Teddy had his little surgery last week and was fine. He didn't need the e-collar or anything else for the matter. I would think that unless it starts to bother him in terms of feeling sore or itchy he will most probably leave it alone. If he does bother it then I would find some place for him to be other than the kennel while you need to run errand like perhaps the bathroom or something so that he can move around without feeling like a prisoner with the e-coller on.

| I agree with Shelly. My advice for you is to watch him for a few hours while you are home to see if the stitches irritate him and if he licks them. If he doesn't seem to notice them, then I would suggest no e-collar. I hate e-collars. When my old Basset Hound got neutered, he had to wear one, and it always got in the way. He always had his nose to the ground so the edge of the e-collar would get stuck in grooves on our tile floor or on the rocks in the backyard. He did little somersaults. it was so pathetic! Anyways, if Finnigen is bothered by the stitches, put the e-collar on and set up a little area for him in the kitchen or bathroom (somewhere without carpet JIC of an accident) where he will be safe and comfortable. Good luck! |
