| max is home and theres bad news max came home today.The doctor did not give me the blood work results she will mail them to me when there done also a homemade diet made for him. so hes what she told me the liver biopsy: there are significant changes to the liver,which is markedly cellular and irregular. there is a prolific vascular reduncy ,with entier liver.There are focal accumulates of inflammatory cells,focal necrosis of hepatocytes and marked focal congestion theres also cholestais DIAGNOSIS; severe mvd with seconday degnerative changes to the liver . she told me that maxs liver function is going to worsen with time trthe symptoms will be '' pot belly'' brusing or bleeding increases thirst and worsining disorienation periods. also seizures. THE new meds besides the ones i have already told you denosyl ,usodiol and hes still on milk thisle and ve i will be getting munic instead so any advice please help any thing she told me that he wont have very long |

| the liver shunt group knows about these things...I would get on there and tell them about it. I'm so sorry that Max's liver is in such bad shape... Remember that the denosyl has to be given on an empty stomach(preferably the morning) at least 1 hour before feeding... Also, I read somewhere that the main protein ingredients for the Medical Low Protein food are salmon and chicken...Both of those foods are very high in purines and are not recommended for liver compromised dogs. If I were you, I would seriously consider having the vet switch him to Royal Canin Hepatic Formula...It's specifically for dogs with liver disease.

| Yes, there is an excellent recipe in the Files section of the liver group that I use for Miko, but instead of 1lb of cod (way too much protein), I use a certain amount of eggs.
