| Jumping on furniture When do Yorkies start to jump up on to the furniture? I always have to lift Starsky up to get on the couch. He can jump off the couch no problem, but won't jump up on it. I know my bed is way to high to jump up on to, plus he won't jump off of that. He barks to get down. May be he never will jump up, do Yorkies jump that high?

| I guess it depends on their size as well as age. Pebbles jumped on furniture since four months, yet Gaby is smaller in size and is 4 1/;2 months now and still does not jump up or down from furniture!

| Fred has been jumping on things since he was young. It's just.. as he gets bigger, he jumps on things that are higher. He jumps on things and barks because he's too afraid to get off! Silly dog. |

| Rocky jumps on EVERYTHING! He started jumping up to the couch when he was around 10 weeks old. Since then, he looks at the entire house like it is a Yorkie jungle gym! It makes me nervous and I wish I had stopped it as soon as it started! lol...Consider yourself lucky for the time being! |

| Zowie could jump on the couch since about 3 months, but Bronx never would. He was probably 9 months when I decided we babied him. Zoe would grab his treats and take them up on the couch or on chairs so he couldn't get them. We finally just started putting our legs out for him to climb up, and soon he could jump up. Our bed is also high, Zoe could jump up there at about 4 or 5 months. Bronx does sometimes, but usually calls me and I put my hands at the edge, he jumps up and I grab him.

| Biddy moves like a cat! She jumps on everything! We even caught her sitting on the kitchen table once! Tucker on the other hand is 6 months (as of today actually!! Happy 1/2 B'Day Tuck!!) and he can't jump on anything!! He tries, but he just can't get up. I wish he could!

| Zeus is quite the little daredevil. I can remember him already going up and down the stairs at 4 months and trying to jump on everything in sight. We even put up baby gates and he climbed over them!

| Olivia is way too small to jump on our furniture. She used to cry to get up or jump, and jump, and jump like a little pogo stick until we put her on the couch. I kept thinking she was going to kill her poor little knees everytime she jumped. So, we placed two pillows on the floor to make steps for her. Now, she can walk up to the couch, and comes and goes as she pleases. She thought she was the best thing since sliced bread at first, like she was such a big girl! It's much easier for all of us- she would get up and immediatly cry to get down; get down and immediatly cry to get up. I highly recommend the pillow method! |

| We made a "ramp" onto the couch for Lil Bit. I found a scrap piece of lumber (we have tons of scrap lumber) and wrapped it in a towel (for traction) and Lil Bit took a day or two to get used to it......she just runs up and down that ramp. As she got a little bit better at it I traded that old scrap for a shorter scrap (making the ramp shorter and steeper) and she is doing fine with that now. She is now 7 1/2 months and will occasionally jump off the couch if she is in a great hurry.....but still cannot jump on the couch unless someone is sitting on the couch and the weight of the person makes the seat a bit lower for her. I'm sure it all depends on the height of the object and size of the dog! At 3 months Apple, the chi, was like a rocket jumping on and off everything...I feared she would blow out a knee! |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Our girls both jump onto everything...the couch, chairs, the fireplace, anywhere they can!! They started really getting their legs around 4-5 months, although I think Magic might have been a little early...but now nothing is safe from them...the only thing they can't get on is our beds, but we have a stool for them to use when it is bedtime!!
