| Males that mark ?? Do they ever stop???? I have a 3.9 lb little boy that was just neutered last Mon ( six days ago) ..... he is 10 months old.His testicles never dropped. The vet could find one but they had to go into the abdomen to find the other one..... he had a hard time pottying the day after his surgery ... I took him to the ER vet at 1:00 in the morning and they had to catherize him... they said he refused to go potty because he was sore... ( he was taking pain meds ) I guess he is just a little wus.... I am so glad the surgery is over .... and he is back to himself.... I have been waiting to get this done since I got him in Feb... I knew they hadn't dropped when we got him and because he was so small I didn't think they would .... vet kept saying give him more time ... he is little... but he started marking so I knew it was time.... Now that brings me to my question..... he started marking his territory about 3 weeks ago, he marked everything.....( I have a female shih tzu) he had been 90% potty trained before that... Will he always want to mark???? is any of that habit????? because though it is not near as bad as before surgery he is still marking some... What is the best way to stop this..... potty training 101 ????? I need help !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks |

| Hi and I'm so glad your little guy is doing better. Here is my experience, my little guy is almost 11mths, weighs about 3.7lbs, he had his surgery when he was about 7mths old and was beginning to mark quite often before it, well it took a good month for him to stop the marking and to loose his "affection" toward a certain micro pillow LOL. Are you peepee pad training? If so, I made sure that I put him on his pad about every 30 minutes so he would know to use it and recently I have begun to notice that he squats more than he lifts his little leg. Hope this helps some.

YT Addict | I can honestly say that every day I walk Teddy, he marks every bush, tree, plant, post, etc that he can see. He didn't start it until he turned 3 months. He doesn't do it often when he's around familar places, but if he isn't then he will mark. I'm only basing this on my experience, however. He doesn't do it in the house as often as he used to, so maybe this will go away with time. But, don't worry its not as bad as you think. If you tell him, "no" enough, he will stop.

| You may want to start taking him on walks so he can mark himself out. He might then do it a lot less then he is. I'm sure having your other baby has something to do with it. Plus it takes time for their hormones to get all settled down after they're neutered.
