| We have been very busy at UYR!! Hi Yorkie Lovers!! I am so sorry that I have not posted in a while. We have been incredibly busy with many new rescues. Some of them are very ill. We recently rescued a 10 month old owner surrender who was so ill that he slipped into a coma. We suspected a liver shunt from his symptoms. Sadly his owner never had a labwork done even though he had been sick for many months. We drew bloodwork and started him on the meds for a shunt but unfortunately we did not get to him soon enough and he went to the Bridge early yesterday morning. We are getting a 3 month old 1# Yorkie this weekend that will be transported to TN to be near UT for further treatment and a Liver Shunt is suspected in this puppy as well. I an praying that we can help him get well. I cannot stress enough to have bile acids (serum) done on all puppies. This breaks my heart that we can't help all of them. THANK YOU THANK YOU for helping us help these sick babies. Much love, Mary Sullenberger UYR President |

| Hi Mary, there are way too many dogs out there with liver problems like liver shunt and MVD/HMD. Thank you so much for the work that you do. You guys are angels to these little babies that come in all sick. I have a yorkie with MVD which was causing him some pretty serious hepatic encephalopathy symptoms, and I know what it's like. Fortunately, I have done a lot of research and found very valuable information on a liver shunt group on yahoo groups and other sources. Now, my dog is healthier than ever. It's been a very long time since he's had a seizure, ammonium urate stones, head pressing or anything like that.

| I wanted to say you are amazing for what you are doing for these dogs. Most of us wouldnt be strong enough to watch these babies suffer and to lose them too. I was reading up on liver problems with yorkies one day and came across a site that said yorkies are like 1000 times more likely to have liver problems then All of the other breeds put together so I am going to start having my puppies tested before they go to their new homes also. Those numbers just blew me away. |

| It just breaks my heart to think how so many dogs, not only Yorkies, are forced to live without medical assistance or human compassion. Thank you Mary and UYR for all the love and care it gives to so many unwanted Yorkies who all deserve a chance at life. |
