| Will he ever like him? Okay, we got our new puppy, Chewy on Saturday. We brought him home and introduced him to our almost 1 year old Yoda. Yoda has always liked other dogs but he doesn't seem to care for Chewy at all! He will go out of his way to avoid Chewy. For those of you who brought in a new puppy, how long was the adjustment period? Did they eventually get along? I know Yoda has been jealous and we are making sure to love on him a lot. He looks so out of sorts now that Chewy is here. I feel bad for him but then I look at Chewy and he melts my heart. Please offer suggestions and comments.

| I am sorry I don't know how to help. But the only thing that I know is give lots of love. I am sure that it takes time to adjust to have to share him Mommy, just be patient. Good luck I will be going thru this in about 4 months.

| I think myboy is right w the lots of love....I would basically teach them just like you do your 5 human kids.....e.g. if they get in each other's face because of attention or toys or whatever, Yoda no (firm) then immediately oooohhhh thats a good boy....and lots of hugs....or say whatever you're feeling....Yoda, Chewy is just a puppy....that's a good Yoda....it's not so much what we say but they pick up on our feelings from our tone...how long it probably varies w each doggie but as soon as Yoda figures out that Chewy means more treats and more fun, etc.....he will come around....being one year old is still young so I think you will have a great outcome soon! |

| It has been 8 months since we got Friday and Monday still ignores her. Monday is 5 years old now and Friday is 10 months. If Friday is on the bed, Monday leaves ... and only comes back when I put Friday in her little bed. Then Monday sleeps with me all night. (Monday can get up and down by herself, Friday cannot) It hurts my heart to see Monday feel sad, but I hate to snub Friday. So we take turns loving on them ... However, I am the main one home much of the time .... Basically they co-exist well, but it has not been the heavenly bond I was hoping for. The little one (Friday) is so feisty!!!! It is so hard to get a picture of the two of them near each other ....

| I'm going through the same thing with Penny and Piper. Piper's 4 years old and Penny's 6 months old, and she's so jealous that she always chases him away.

| I was scared too! I was fearful about Bella, and Gucci getting along, but I felt better seeing Gucci play with the other Maltese, and Yorkies at Debbies house. Bella and Gucci do rough play, and it scares me. They lay in the basket together , and they sleep together in the same house. The first couple of nights I put both of them in the same in the house, so Gucci would not be lonely and cry all night. Gucci and Bella will be buddies for a week on Saturday. |

| They rough play as well but I have only seen Yoda get "ugly" once and that was when Chewy decided to bite him when Yoda was on my lap. Yoda is very wary of Chewy still. Tomorrow will be a week. The first two nights I put Chewy in Yoda's crate at bedtime so Chewy would not be lonely. He had three other furbabies he was with all the time before coming here. They did okay, although on the first night, Yoda stayed at the back of the crate and under the pillow. I think he was protesting! I stopped after the second night because Chewy had accidents both nights. The breeder I got him from has two rooms that belong to her furbabies and they roam free. She has puppy pads laid out in several places and that works for her. I crate at night and use an xpen when we aren't home. Chewy is puppy pad trained but he wasn't doing well with the crate. BUT...since being put in his own crate, which is right beside Yoda, he has went two nights without an accident. He is doing great. He also has been doing his other business outside every morning. Yoda refused to eat much the first few days that Chewy was here. He also snubbed the family pretty much unless he wanted something. For example, I could get on the floor with his favorite treat and he wouldn't come to me. Yoda had an accident in his crate last night, which hasn't happened since he was a puppy. Well, they are in their xpen having breakfast now. Today is a new day! Thanks for all of your replies!
