| Eye Gunk How many times do you clean your pup's eye gunk a day. It seems that I'm cleaning Toby's eyes constantly. Its not a big deal but with his cataracts he can't see at all with the gunk in the way. |

| Well I should clean Roo's about ten times a day but only clean them every other day or something because she's squirmy and she hates it and it doesnt seem to help much- this is why we keep her hair nice and short and to the groomers every month or so! lol |

| I try to pick it off of Chip's face 1-2 times a day, depending if its crusty. Its alot easier to pick it off when it is dry, but he still squirms his head the whole time. |

| They must all squirm. Toby gets pretty angry when I do it. I always use a wet kleenex. I do have to clean him constantly. |

| Zippy's eyes are also really gunky, not sure if it is from the cataracts though. I remember his eyes being gunky in his younger years, it never really dries enought to pick off so now he has the tear stains. |

| Sammy's is crusty so we only need to do hers once a day, usually when I do her topknot. Loki's is gooey so I clean his in the morning so he can see but it smells so I end up washing his whole face at night all the time.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | My cocker is getting the same thing ...I had taken her to the vet a few weeks ago before the girls went to stay with Yorkiecrazy while I went to Michigan for my husbands funeral - the doctor prescribed eye drops but told me I could also use OTC Drops but only a certain kind - She recommended 'REFRESH REAL TEARS' - and it seems to be helping ith the gook but I'd check with your vet first just to be safe - Good luck |

| I do mine maybe once a week, sometimes sooner. I got this excellent pair of Chris Christenin (?) brush that gets that eye gunk out and it works wonders!!! |

| Must be a Yorkie trait. I thought I was cleaning his eyes a lot. Obviously I wasn't. Grayxie have you looked into the Ocluvets for Zippy? Sorry to sidetrack. My vet is looking into getting them for Toby's cataracts. www.ocluvet.com http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi...ournalCode=vop |

| Ideal for my Joey would be twice a day, but I'm lucky if I get it done every other day. I've got to start doing better.

| Well I guess we are off topic but the senior dogs obviously can't have surgery for cataracts but maybe these Ocluvet drops can help a little. I am putting an order in for them this week. I'm wondering though as Yorkies get older does the gunk get heavier and more of it? |
