| new yorkie Hi everyone, So i just bought a new yorkie and I'm starting to get a little worried about his breathing sound. As I have posted before, when I when to pick him up, I noticed that the father had a funny breathing sound, and the breeder said it was because of his small trachea. I am worried that my puppy will have this too. (even though she informed me that he didn't) I dont know what to do because if that is the case, I would expect to be able to return the puppy since she mislead me. I feel like I should put a stop payment on the cheque until I get Yoshi checked out. What do you guys think? |

| Did the breeder sign a contract with a health gaurentee for you? Usually they say you need to take the puppy to the vet within 2-3 days and if the vet says it isn't healthy or has some kind of genetic defect they will replace the puppy. Sonya

| How many days have you had him? Have you taken him to the vet yet? If not do so today - the breeder should have told you to do this. Also, she should have had a contract for you with a health guarantee. But the most important thing is you get this little one to the vet today, so that you can get a good assessment of what you are dealing with. Talk with the vet about any health concerns this little guy might have & get the vet's advice. The vet may say to return him.

YT 2000 Club Member | Most reputable breeders have a 1 year health guarantee against genetic diseases and ask that you get the pup into your vet within a few day's of bringing the puppy home. During that first year, if a genetic problem is found, they will take the pup back from you and give you a different pup. Contracts are also different so you have to read them to see what all applies with that breeder. I would get him into the vet As soon as you can and have the vet check him, he/she will be able to tell what is wrong IF anything, and then you would know for sure what you are dealing with or if he is just fine. If nothing is found to be wrong with him, then at least you will have been reassured of that. If something is wrong, the vet can tell you what can be done to get him healthy or if you should return the puppy. Good luck and keep us posted, I hope all is fine with your puppy! |

| I'd take him to the vet right away to be checked out.

| I'm so sorry your little baby may have some problems. I wish you had gone to a more reputable breeder, this way you would have gotten a health guarantee. I agree with the others. Take him in for a nice check-up and if the Vet. finds any health problems, then have him put it in writing for you. Copy it and give that breeder the copy and ask for a refund. This sounds heartless I know, but you could spend the next few years going broke at the Vets. with a puppy with questionable breeding. |

| i just got back from the vet.. my puppy is healthy. only thing im worried about is his nose sounds like it has boogers in it when he's breathing.. like its obstructed. dr. said it could be an upper respiratory tract infection, but told me to wait it out for one week. other than that, he's fine. anyone else heard of, or had this problem? i wish he wasnt breathing like that! kinda scares me. not sure if i should tell the breeder i want to wait a week before she cashes my cheque. i called her today, and she was fine with me taking Yoshi in for a check up. she said i could bring her back if there were any problems. |

| I would get him to the vet ASAP. Is he coughing or making gagging sounds? If so he may have kennel cough and the sooner you start antibiotics the better.
