| How many poops? Hi everyone, I know this probably sounds stupid but I was just curious as to how many poops your Yorkies have a day? Do you think it is odd to have your Yorkie poop 4 times a day when they are eating the same food and same amount of food each day.... when normally she always poops just morning and night? I just keep wondering if she keeps pooping extra, won't she be losing weight? Thanks for any answers. Anna http://www.dogster.com/dogs/511397 |

| Lacy is three years old and poops once a day. My parents three year old yorkie poops twice a day. Four times is a lot if it's not a puppy. What type of food are you feeding? If your food has a lot of fillers, your dog will poop more.

| Thank you for replying. I hate being so paranoid about poop but it is so obvious when they are using pee pads. Kiki is 10 months old and has been on Royal Canin Yorkshire food for a couple months. She most always poops morning and night but occasionally like yesterday and today, she pooped four times in one day. I am slowly trying to switch her over to Canidae Lamb & Rice but have only been putting in maybe 10 pieces of Canidae with the RC food for a couple days now. Do you think it is this gradual switching that is causing the excessive poop. I would hate to switch to Canidae and have 4 poops a day. Which food are you using for your Yorkies? Anna |

| Izzie has been quite regular with going within 10-15 minutes upon awaking in the morning and then again between 5:30-6:30 in the evening....even when she slowed down her intake of food each day she still remained constant..Ohhhhh Izzie is 7 mths old and she is on Natural Balance Organic...

| Mindy is on Royal Canin 33 and she poops twice a day. Once within minutes of waking and then again in the evening.

| My boys eat Canidae w/ a tbs of Spot's stew mixed in. They eat twice a day....about 8 am and about 5:30 pm. They poop twice a day. about 30-35 minutes after each feeding. We use to feed 3 times a day. but they did not show much interest in ther lunch feeding so we dropped it. They are 5 months old. Like you said, it is really easy to figure these things out when you use pee pads

If may be from switching the food. Switching food can cause some digestive changes at first but it should balance back out within a week or two. With both foods, i wouldn't expect to see an excess of pooping so its probably just making the switch right now. Are her stools normal otherwise? I'd give it another couple weeks to see if she starts going less again. There are occasional days when Lacy will poop more than once so maybe she just had to go more for a couple days. I'd just keep a watch on it for now. Lacy is on Nature's Variety raw diet.

| My girls eat The Honest Kitchen (freeze-dried raw). Sissy (2 years old) poops morning and night, Angel (10 1/2 months) poops a billion times a day!!!! So, I think it also depends on your pup somewhat too.

| Siu Pao poops twice a day BUT sometimes its 3 times a day. I know he sometimes poop a little in the morning and then holds some of the poop till when we go out for a walk. So he poops some in the litterbox in the morning, gets a yummy treat; poops again when we are out on a walk, get another treat and because we don't go out for walks at night, he poops in his box at night and another treat. Edit note: I forgot to add I feed him twice a day, breakfast and dinner-he is a year old and 3 months. I know he holds his poop because his butt and his tail has funny contractions that I can see. Now I can actually read his body language to an extent that I know when he is going to poop and when he is not going to poop when we are out for a walk.

I was interested in this post to see how Coby "lined up" with the rest of your pups. Now I feel very relieved to know that Coby falls somewhere between Sissy and Angel!!!

| Ellie poops once a day. It has stayed that way for the last few years. In that time she has been on Science Diet , homemade, and Canidae.
