| will my pup have cotton hair? I purchased my chanel about a month ago.She is 16 weeks old and still looks very dark. Her new hair growth looks a bit dry.I did not get to see her parents because they are in Brazil. I did get to see their pictures. The mothers hair(the red bow)looks to me as if her hair is cottony. But im not sure.Im attaching a pic of chanel and her parents. (she was just bathed so her hair doesn look dry.)Let me know what you think. |

| First, I just want to say that Chanel's parents are gorgeous! And, Chanel is absolutely adorable! It's kind of hard for me to tell at such a young age. My Jake's coat seemed cottony when he was young, but now it's silky. So, you really can't tell until they start to get a little older and lose their puppy coat. Maybe someone else can come along and give you a better answer than me.

| I agree. My Halle had curly dry cottony coat that would not lay down at all no matter what I used on it. Now that she is 6 months her hair is changing and becoming straighter and dare I say silky and less dry. So age has a lot to do with it. My Male, Chase had a cottony coat as well that matted if you looked at him hard . Now it's silky and rarely matts, thank goodness. Give it some time it should be a beautifula as the parents and they are gorgeous . |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Chanel is so cute and I agree with the other posters - she's still too young to tell but boy either way she goes (silky or cotton) she's going to be a beauty. Can't wait to see pics of her growing up.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Both parents look silk to me. Take a pic with your flash on and see what color her eyes reflect...if its a red/gold color its cotton, if its blue/gree its silk.

| That mother does look cottony, but wow is she beautiful. Both of mine have cotton hair. Loki's is straight and thick. Sammy's is curly and thick. I prefer it because they look fantastic in a short cut. It's not so bad to care for with the right haircut and conditioner.
