| Cutting Hair for Whelping?? Preggo ?'s Question for all the veteran Yokie Grammies out there....I'm pretty sure my Diva is preggos(tied on Aug. 18th & 19th). She has an appt. with her groomer next week and the groomer suggested I cut her... Well I like her hair long, especially since I had to cut her when she was a puppy... My question is for those of you who's had puppies, how low or what type of cut did you give your little girl? Was it just around "that" area, the underbelly, legs, or everywhere? Also, She has not really eaten much in 2 days...yesterday, she let me feed her 1 piece at a time which didn't last long either. Is she experiencing morning sickness? I figured she'd be done with that by now as she will be 4 weeks Saturday. Other than that...I'm very excited to soon become a Yorkie Grammy.. She is 6.5 lbs and she mated with a 4.5 lbs male so I'm hoping to get at least 3 pups. She has a Wellness exam vet appt. on 9/22 so I'll update as to her progress... but with all the expertise and experience on here, why wait to get my questions answered?? I just love this site!! You guys are great... Yolanda Mommy to: Diva 1 yr 4mos & newest baby girl Foxxy 18 weeks |

| i clip belly hair pretty short around the teats. As far as the rest of the hair, they can get tangled up in it and smother. What most people do to save the long coats is section that hair off and tie it up in a scrunchie or something. take it down and brush about every two or three days. congratulations on your upcoming litter and welcome to YT. |

| I do cut the skirts alittle shorter along with the belly. The coat seems to grow back pretty quickly, you just don't want her ending up dragging a puppy around thats caught up in her skirts. Good luck, hope all goes well for her. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | me too maybe Hey Yolanda! It seems that you and I might be in the same boat. I too have a yorkie girl who might be pregnant. She was mated on Aug. 18th and Aug 20th. It will be 4 wks since her first tie on Saturday. I am calling her vet tomorrow or Friday for an appointment to confirm pregnancy (or not ). We'll have to watch for each others threads to compare pregnancys and whelping. That would be fun; let's keep in touch!
