| what do you think of a chocolate yorkie? The pet store who also breeds yorkie is very excited that he will have a chocolate yorkie which he claims to be very rare, I am looking for a second yorkie for my tanner to have a playmate, but I am not sure I would want and I never heard of a chocolate yorkie!!! what do everyone think? |

| I think they're gorgeous! Either way, all yorkies, light or dark are beautiful! If you do decide to get a chocolate yorkie, please post pics...we'd love to admire the beauty!

| The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America is the parent club for the Yorkie in the US. This page is on their website about colour. http://www.ytca.org/faq.html#B |

| "Rare" they aren't. so don't be fooled by this advertising ploy. In fact, there are some that say it is a genetic defect. i don't really know because I never was interested enough in one to find out. just wanted to warn you to not be fooled. |

| A chocolate yorkie is a color fault. Of course that doesn't make them any less cute and still make great pets. Please don't buy one from a petstore though...

| chocolate yorkie I wish people would quit ruining the beautiful Yorkie breed by continuing to breed "rare" chocolate, pie-bald, parti, etc colors. These are color faults and the parents that produce them as well as the off-spring should be spayed and neutered. I think the chocolate is one of the ugliest colors as the beautiful expression is lost with the pink eye rims and pink nose and amber eyes. this is just my opinion and I know that these puppies are just as loving and wonderful pets. Its just amazing what people will keep producing with the only goal being the big dollar. So please dont fall for the "rare" color and pay the "rare" price for it. Just a thought, Lynn |

Amen...I'm with you, it amazes me all these people that profess to love the yorkie breed and then can't wait to change it for the $$$$$$

| I love chocolate yorkies, they are soooo cute. It is hard to find them because it is a genetic fault that doesn't happen often, I think. I would like to have one some day. I would not buy from a pet store though. Last edited by genie; 08-31-2007 at 07:39 PM. |

| Don't let anyone tell you that they are "rare" and, therefore, they cost more. They actually should cost less because I read where their coloring is a genetic defect. Also, I wouldn't buy from a pet store.

| They are gorgeous, but not rare, and not worth any more than any standard colored yorkie. I wouldn't buy any dog at a petstore, or support a petstore that sells them...
