Do other dogs think your Yorkie is weird? My 4 1/2 month old Yorkie has come across many size and breeds of dogs and they all seem to try to run away from her! At the vet, all of the other dogs look at my Maggie and then look at their owner with a look that screams "get me away from this psycho thing!" I don't even know if they know she is a dog. She does get very excited when she meets other people and dogs and is quite animated ! Does anyone else have this problem? Will my Maggie ever has doggie friends? We will hopefully be started obedience school soon and I am terrified! HELP!

| I havent had that problem. Bradley has his best friend my sisters Schnoodle and they play every weekend. They are the same size so its nice. My boyfriend brough his Choc. Lab over one day and Bradley just thought he was the s**t lol. He must of thought he was the same size of the lab, it was kinda cute.

Yoda gets along with bigger dogs, but sometimes bigger dogs just aren't too smart I think, and can't figure out Yoda is a dog like them as well... Our neighbor's golden retriever gets completely confused when she sees Yoda and gets all hyper and runs around in circles, literally.

Higgins loves most dogs, regardless of size, unfortunately. But he is beginning to develop a little discretion. There are LOTS of dogs here in the park where we spend the winter, so he gets lots of socialization. There is a big standard poodle, about 2 years old, who would love to play with him, but Chewy "paws" him (tries to -- we don't let it happen) in a friendly manner, but Higgins is very wary of Chewy now because of this. The biggest problem we have is with owners. Some people who are camping here and are also from Maine, stopped by to chat yesterday while walking their very lovely female lab (6 years old). The man kept insisting that she would be very gentle with Higgins and "we should just let them loose on the leash so they could get to know each other, since their tails are all wagging." I told him in no uncertain terms that that was a no-no with me. Told him that my dog Pogo didn't like ANY other dogs (true) and couldn't be trusted, and that Higgins was young and "in your face" with other dogs and could be hurt accidently by the nicest dog. I wanted to tell him that a wagging tail does NOT mean the dog is happy. It is also a sign that the dog is poised to take action. Geeeeeeez, I have motor mouth today........

Higgins mom, you are just being a good mommie. Alot of people don't understand the love we have for our furbabies. I know people think I am crazy with mine, but my three are so kind hearted I sometimes wonder if there dog instinct would kick in and they would defend themselves, they are spoiled rotten. I think they would look at me like saying whats going on. When that dog jumped the fence and came at us tuff Rudy was almost on top of me head to get away from the dog. We will do what we have to do to protect our babies.................Cindy

I know exactly what you are talking about. Cecilia always wants to play with other dogs, but the other dogs are very wary of her. It has gotten better since she has gotten older. She is almost 9 months old now and weighs about 4 pounds. She has started to make some friends. She still thinks she is a big dog though and wants to wrestle with large dogs.

My dog does the same thing. My daughter's dog looks wild eyed and runs like crazy and of course Snoodles chases her and just loves being top dog! If a dog comes too close to her, she will wiggle like crazy and scrunch down wiggling like crazy in submission, I think! We must watch them very closely. We have a big dog next to us that would love to eat her, so we are very, very careful when she is in the yard. They put up two fences between ours, (chain link) and he tries to jump the first one to get at her. So far he hasn't managed but I know one day he will. So as soon as he does, we will talk to the neighbors and put up barb wire if I have to .Hee! Hee!

Peaches gets along well with all other animals and people, Omar is much more reserved and kind of independent. It reminds me of a sign I have in my office at work, "if it isn't a Yorkie, it's just a dog" My favorite!! Maybe they know that??
