| groom in heat? mocha is in heat but she needs to be groomed--bathed, hair trim, nail trim, etc. can i still take her? she won't let me touch her at all. i'm a little afraid that the shampoos/conditioners the spa uses will irritate her, since she's so swollen down there. what to do?

| NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. if there is a male in there, i am sure he would try and get her. i don't believe they will take her in heat anyway.

| Wait until after she's finished, I doubt the groomer would agree to do her while in heat anyway. It would send any entire males there crazy. |

| It is not a problem at our shop we have done dogs in heat many times. Dogs never get to visit at our shop and it never seems to bother the males as most of them are neutered and we make our appointments so the dogs are not there all day. The only problem doing a dog in heat is it is a bit messy for the groomer, so just give her a nice tip and all will be fine. Be sure to tell her when you drop her off , I hate looking in a cage and seeing blood and not knowing where it came from..... Owner : Best Friends Pet Salon Salem Oregon |

| Can you just give her a little bath yourself, and wait for the full grooming until she's done?

| she's pre-heat. swollen, but no blood yet. maybe i'll just give her a light wash and wait until she's over. doesn't it take a couple of weeks though (being in heat)? she hasn't been bathed in quite awhile--daddy did not bathe her before he gave her back to me. i guess that's what i'll do. just lightly wash her--she's been itching lately..no fleas, and so i'm assuming it's because she hasn't been washed in a couple of weeks.
