| Should I Call UPS?? Today I was at home in the middle of the day & Roxie was in the backyard squirrel hunting, while Bubba was in the house doing what Bubba's do - NAPPING! Roxie started barking to be let in & when I opened the back door I saw my back gate was standing wide open. Roxie is so good she didn't escape, but if Bubba had been out there who knows where he would be right now, because an open gate to him is an invitation to see the world! I couldn't figure out who had opened the back gate. A short time later, I got in my car and as I backed out of my driveway I saw a box delivered by UPS on my front step. So I'm thinking, this must be the scenerio that happened: after the UPS guy knocked on the front door & I didn't hear him, he thought he would leave it in the back so no one would steal my package. But probably he opened the back gate & Roxie came running at him, he changed his mind, but didn't get the gate latched. I certainly am not looking to get a UPS guy in trouble, but I'm wondering if I should call them up & just let them know they should be more careful?? My babies could have been lost or killed or who knows what! I should say I live in a 110-plus year old house with solid walls & no door bell, and I was in the back of the house and this is probably why I didn't hear him knock.

| I came home one day and Rocky was in the driveway going from the gate to the house door and back. When I pulled in and opened the cardoor he jumped in my car. He's the ONLY one of the 3 that would stay by the house if loose. Chuck accidentally let him out when he came in carrying some boxes. I have a gate also, into the driveway. We put a chain and lock on it with a key on each side (hidden) so that we can open it quick if we need to. I would call UPS or if you don't have a local number can you contact them on the website? Don't know if the message would get to the driver. How frightening, I'm glad that all turned out ok for you.

| I don't think I would call. I'm sure he didn't do it intentionally and maybe he thought it was securely latched and it wasn't. Or maybe he isn't a "dog person" and was rushing out. There could have been a lot of different scenarios. I'm glad she was a good girl and didn't leave the yard! |

| You don't need to call UPS. If you follow the tracking information and notice that the package is listed as "Out for Delivery" status, then just leave a note for the UPS person on the front door or gate so they know what to do with the package and to ensure that they securely close the gate. Luckily nothing serious happened, but a phone call is not necessary. Or, if you see him around the neighborhood frequently and he is your regular driver and not a spare driver, just go up to him and tell him what to do next time. |

| The people at the 800# aren't going to care. We had a "sub" driver screw up a couple deliveries and they weren't interested. When our regular guy got back from vacation we told him what happened and HE said he would fix the problem. It helps to have a good relationship with your UPS guy. Watch for him the next time he comes and explain the situation. Let him meet the dogs and realize they aren't scary.

| Should I Call UPS?? Darned right, you should! They are trained to close them immediately just as utility readers are trained. I would call administration as well as write a certified letter and mail it. Your puppy's life may depend on this situation being corrected. I had to contact one of our utility company's some years ago. The problem was handled and it hasn't happened since.
