| What vacations did your yorkies take? How many of you have taken your yorkies on a real vacation and to where? How did it go? We took Lexi before we got Max on a trip from PA to FL in a motorhome! My Mya who is now at the rainbow bridge went to FL with us on the plane but now we have 2 and don't know if it would work. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Before we got Sailor, we took Magic with us to South Texas over the Christmas break...she had a blast, and while we were down there it actually snowed, she loved playing in it!!! Now that we have two, it is harder, but we have taken them to see my brother a couple of times (he lives abot 5 hours away)...but so far no airplane rides for either!!!

| We take Tyke to our condo in Naples, FL with us. We keep a pen out in a summer room for him to use the bathroom and when he has to go he's supposed to stand by the sliding door...problem is that our entire condo has TONS of sliding doors so he doesn't know which one to stand at...he'll stand at whatever one he can get to and start crying lol He also goes to Illinois with us to see my grandparents. As far as Bubba, he's still a puppy and not trained so when we leave we will have him stay at the breeder's...that way he can catch up with his mama and siblings --Sissa

| Carter flew with us to North Carolina when we went to see my son before he left for Iraq. We wanted to take Cooper too but the second flight was on a small plane and it would only accomodate one dog total. Fortunately, since Cooper was so little, we didn't have a problem finding one of my daughter's friends to keep him for us. Cooper is flying to NC in 1 1/2 weeks with my daughter to my other daughter's house. While Cooper and my daughter are gone, Carter will be taking a short vacation with my husband and I to either the north Georgia mountains (Blairsville) or Savannah. We'll be driving though.

| ... Besides going all around NYC, and select parts of New Jersey, my baby has gone to LA and Michigan. He was so good on that long plane ride to la la land! but i kept getting him out and playing with him, plus he needed food, water, and his wee wee pad (its a 6 hour flight people!!) the lady next to me kept pushing the button, so the stewardess got mad and told me to "restrain my animal" and "not everyone likes dogs." my 5 month old boy is 1.5 pounds!!! are you kidding me? i asked, he needs water, at least!. she said she could have the cops wait for my on the runway if i disobeyed her agian. yikes!! so i got Baz a card that says he is a service dog, so next time, he can stay up with me yup, thats my travel story ~chelsea |

| So they allow dogs on the plane? How much did you have to pay for the fare? |

| Delta's fare is $50 each way. US Airways is $100 each way. I know it is ridiculous that they make you pay to take a carry-on that is a dog but I couldn't imagine ever inventing a disability just to be able to take them as a service animal. I have to meet my maker one day and if St. Francis is standing on the side of him, I can enter the pearly gates with a clean slate having not lied. I'd never wish a disability on anyone.

There are very few people with "perfect health" and the healing powers of animals, and dogs in particular, are well documented. The story I just posted about the girl who has a papillon is a perfect example of the need for more small dog service animals in order to make them more of an accepted part of our society so that people with disabilities ( almost all of us) can live a better life and be able to have their dog help with small tasks. There is abaolutely no down side to making your dog a service animal and any dog qualifies if they can be trained to provide a service of any kind. If you have a disability of any kind, teach your dog to bring you your purse or your cell phone and you have a service animal and it is perfectly legal and encouraged by the disabled advocates. | |

| Puerto Rico Every year we go to Puerto Rico for two weeks to visit my grandmother. This year my daughter asked me to take Pierce since she had to work. She did not want to leave him alone for hours. I agree to take him, he went on the plane with me as a carry on. American charges $80 each way, but I did sneak Mia who at the time was 14 weeks on our way back. He, he, he Nana to Pierce & Mia |
