Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Update On Peeka's Accident!! Remeber my thread i posted about Peeka getting the bully stick wrapped around his head??? If not here is the link http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90330 but i wanted to update everyone.. Well i am happy to say i checked my mail and to my surprise i recieved a letter from Red Barn This is what it said (short version) They reviewed my claim and came to the conclusion that their product was not defective and they do not useually participate in vet payment however they are very sympathetic to the discomfort and distress me and my dog experianced so they are going to make an exception and pay part of my bill they sent me a check for $45.00 They also said that the possibility of this accident happining with any other round object is very real and they try to convey tha supervision is recommended when feeding any treat. They said they strive to create healthy and safe treats and they relieze that one treat may be perfect for one dog and not appropriate for another. They have now taken steps to include a statement on our bully stick labels indicating that supervision is suggested when feeding this treat. Well it's better than nothing and at least they are making an attempt to solve the issue. I will say i am very pleased to recieve the check but i haven't recieved the bully sticks they said they would send. I guess the money is better lol. Just remember to watch your babies and i do not recommend this bully stick for small dogs even with supervision because i was watching Peeka when it happened.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | I know it's not the best they could have done but at least i got something out of it and if they put a warning on the package i hope that will help i really wish they would state that these are not safe for small dogs but i don't think they will go that far. I truely hope that this never happens to anyone else. I won't complain to much because the lady i origionally spoke with said they would not pay my bill at all. It is annoying though because i was siiting right there supervising when it happened it was so quick it could not have been prevented. I do think it's shabby they did not pay the whole bill of $85.00 and the lady said she would send me some bully sticks that i useually use but i haven't see those yet. They probably won't sendd me any now that they sent me the money. O well i guess.

| I think that it is good that they send you that $45.oo but I also think it might have been a little "hush money" so they would not have to go through a whole recall thing on those. But my guess will be that your little yorkie will not be the only little dog that this will happen to either.... thank you so much for the warning... |

| Amber I missed your original post. Oh my heavens what a freeky thing to happen to Peeka. Thank heavens your heard him in distress! That was really nice of Red Barn to reimburse you 1/2 of your vet bill. You know they must have been shocked to think such a thing could happen if they reimbursed you. I am sure you saved them many suits against them somewhere down the road. I personally don't use any of these products because I don't belive they are any good for dogs in general. I am so glad Peeka is safe and sound. |

| I saw these exact same brand of "ring" bullys in Petco 2 days ago. I thought of you when I saw them. I cant believe they are going to continue to sell them like that. Glad they acknowledged some responsibility.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | well, at least you got something, and because Peeka is fine, any money is good now. Now, I don't know what would have happened if he had gotten hurt! because $45 would not cover that! So, I'm happy that he's fine, and that the company took some responsability over the facts |

| Some merchants won't even bother to acknowledge your concerns so at least this is something . . . and they are conscientious enough to now put that note on every packaging. . . am glad Peeka is doing well. |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Been following your original post and so glad that Peeka is A-OK now....well at least you got something out of this and thank you for letting us know about this type of bully ring....I saw that at the Petsmart right before you posted and almost got it but changed my mind since it was way to big for Izzy.
