| Ever met a dog you didn't like? I know we're all dog lovers, but I was wondering if you have ever met a dog that you truly didn't like and, if so, why? As a child I was bitterly afraid of dogs. If I saw a dog coming toward me, no matter what age/size, I'd cross the street and I would be trembling in fear. I'm not sure how I started with this fear, but I know that it ended when my parents bought me a Beagle puppy. However, the first dog that I truly didn't like was my aunt's Boston Terrier. He was an adorable little thing, but he was tenacious when it came to sniffing and slobbering on me. He would run up to me when I came over their house and would sniff and lick one spot on my body (didn't matter which spot) and he wouldn't stop until I had a wet, slimey pool of saliva running down my clothes. I couldn't get away from him - he would stick to me like glue. You couldn't play with him or interact with him in any way - I would just have to sit there and endure his snuffling and licking and his "parents" NEVER said a word or made him stop. In this case I attribute it to poor training methods on his owners behalf. He could have been a perfectly wonderful dog if properly raised I think. Then today at the dog park I met another dog that was untrained and horrible. He jumped on me so many times that I finally left. I never even got to put Kalina down to play. His "father" kept saying BAXTER DOWN, but Baxter paid ZERO attention. I had mud all over my black pants from him and he was a big dog. I wouldn't have trusted him around Kalina anyway. So, anyone want to tell about the not so nice doggies in their lives?

| i HATE to admit this to a world full of dog lovers...but I don't like my hubby's dog. i never have been able to bond with him, and frankly, just don't like him. I have tried and tried. he was 8 when hubby and i started living together and that means 8 years of (IMO) bad training that he was used to. and he is just a whiny, needy, irritating little dog. I have tried and tried and tried to bond with him. don't get me wrong, he is very sweet. but i just can't bond with him. people that come to my house think he is such a great dog. but ask my friends that have had to dog sit for us...he is ANNOYING!! ok...thanks for opening the door to let me vent about this. it is hard to keep it in, but have always feared getting yelled at on this board because there is a dog in my house that i dont like LOL don't get me wrong...he is not treated badly at all...i could never treat an animal badly. but he doesn't get the attention from me that maggie and daisy get...because we just don't like each other. it's sad, really. anyone want an 11 year old min pin?? LOL i'm kidding. i would never let him go anywhere....and would never want anything bad to happen to him. i just have to live with him and we agree to disagree LOL

However, we had a Shar Pei for almost 14 years and she was the sweetest dog you'd ever want to meet.

| Right now I can't think of an individual dog that I don't like, but there are certain breeds that I am not a fan of and would never own.

| I don't know of any dog I don't like. I'm not real fond of the neighbor's dogs tho! But usually when I'm annoyed by a dog, I know it's really their owner that I'm annoyed with......

| Yeah, usually if a dog is annoying me it's the owner I'm annoyed at. Like if I hear a dog outside barking and barking - I'm not annoyed at the dog, I'm annoyed at the owner for leaving it out there and not bringing it inside.

| I didn't like my brothers German Shepherd but it was not the dog's fault, it was a problem with my brother. He trained him to attack and be aggressive on command and thought it funny to play around with him when we visited. So didn't like the dog as I was scared it may strike out on its own and not wait for the "command." I was also bit by a German Shepherd that was a guard dog that got out of his fenced area............guess I don't do well with German Shepherds.

| I have problems with German Shephards. It's not that I don't like them it's just they scare me half to death. I watch those police video's and can see their power and it scares me. I was in the vets office the other day, and one rubbed up against me, and I thought I was going to scream. Poor dog was only trying to be friendly. I'm really working on this fear, because I've never been hurt by one. It's just some odd thing with me.

Oh, I totally agree! As an adult I understand that it's not the dog's fault (in most cases) but when you're a child it's just plain scary and since then I've always been leary of a chow dog. Actually I was afraid of it then too but the little girl who's pet it was said "It's ok, he won't bite" so I reached out to pet it and CHOMP! I think it sensed I was afraid of it.
