| Inlaws, dog haters and cat people!!! Don't ya just hate it when people are just plain rude?? My sister-in-law and her husband, my hubby's brother (I like him a whole lot better than her!) came by for a surprise visit one Sunday last month. Well, we had a friend drop in who brought his two Yorkies to visit Bo. Well, the sis-in-law, we'll call her Morticia, hehe, has made it abundantly clear that she would never have an animal in the house. (So why'd she come see us? We've had house dogs our entire married life, but that's beside my point). She wouldn't pet Bo, didn't comment on him at all, and when the other 2 yorkies showed up and all the dogs were romping, oh my, you'd of thought Morticia was the queen of England, (sorry our beloved Brits, no offense intended), and the dogs had just pissed on her scepter and pooped on her silver platter! If I'd had a chisel I could've broken her face. Then, not a week later, my neighbor stops by for a visit. I say, meet my new baby, Bo. Well she (we'll call her Esmarelda, hehe) says "Well, we've had ours so long. She's 14. And every time I let her out in the morning I hope she'll just keep going and not come back!" I was horrified!! Esmarelda was referring to the prettiest Westie you've ever seen! She doesn't even look old! So then there's the cat only people. I'm not referring to those who have both dogs and cats. No, these are people who think dogs are stupid. My daughter's boyfriend is one of those (lets see, lets refer to him as Dracula, believe me, it fits!!). He has no respect for the fact that she loves both of our dogs. He has never once petted Bo!! Can you imagine??? He's cuteness personified, LOL!! I told my daughter that if she marries him that he will never allow her to have a dog in the house! She better listen! She's had a dog sleep with her for the past 7 years! And a whole lot better bed buddy than Dracula would be, ha! Anyway, thanks for letting me vent! People these days!!!!!

| I know, i dont understand why people can be rude at your pet just becuase you have it. My friends mom hates dogs too. We went over there to visit my friend and help her unload her couches well her mom was there and the daughter siad look at this cute puppy do you want to hold it. She looked at me and said a good dog is a dead dog. I could not beleive what she said. I just said alright then, well i love him and did not talk to her anymore. That was really rude to say to me after I just gotten him.

| She couldn't possibly be like the Queen of England - Lizzie has loads of corgis and from what we have been told by past butlers they aren't entirely house trained and Lizzie doesn't mind ! But I know what you mean about the outlaws and even my own family have never understood our passion for dogs and cats |

| OH, Oh, Oh, could I write some stories here! I have a sister in law that does not like dogs, especially in the house. Because her precious rearend couldn't stand to have a dog hair on her perfect skinny butt pants from sitting on the couch that a dog just has sat on. Will she ever forgive my mother for bringing her dog (little 5 lb. maltese) over to their house at a bar b que? She had quite the fit that there was a dog in the same general vicinity as the food. And boy did she have a snotty sneer on her face on Easter when we had ALL of our dogs together at my mom's house! Now, that was actually funny turning them all loose in the house and watching them run their race track over her. Secretly my mother and I enjoyed that thoroughly! She went outside and stayed out there for quite a while! |

I think it is sad when people have a grudge against something - be it dogs or whatever - but maybe they had a bad experience and you can't blame them, just wonder why on earth they won't work on it....

| There's something missing in people who don't like dogs! I can understand if they don't want the responsibility of a dog for some reason, but to dislike them is just plain cold!

| Yesterday we had family over and my daughter insisted that I show off Mya's clothes. I keep them on baby hangers and I have been busy sewing. It is is chilly up north when I take her to the cottage she shivers. Sometimes my husband has the aircondtioning up really high and it is too cold in the house as well. Anyway.....they all had a good laugh at how "nuts" I am to have a "fashion line" for my dog. Hey If I am going to keep her warm she might as well look cute as well. The thing is they stopped laughing when they saw how comfortable Mya is in her t-shirts, coats, hats and pj's. I used to think it was silly to dress a dog too until I had a dog under four pounds that shivered in even 55 degree weather. I told my family and friends "you can all go GOOGLE"......lol The dog clothing industry is billion dollar buisness now. They then shut up and said I should start selling dog clothes. *grin* I also brought out Mya's photo album now that I have pics of her parents and siblings and grandparents. Funny thing happened....my relatives started to say they would not mind having a puppie after pouring over the pics. ........NOT.....hahahaha I am happy the my neighbours are going to get a puppy for the next litter of Mya's parents so that she will have another yorkie to play with

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Well, I would have asked Morticia why she came to your house then if she knew that Bo was living there. I would have also told her that he's been infested with fleas, has ring worm, and might have been bit by a rabid coon the other day. Watch her get up and leave then! Now, with Esmarelda, I would have told her, "Well, maybe when you get up there in age, your husband will be thinking the same about you. Go out to get the mail and keep on going." What a witch! Dracula, sucks the life out of you! Evil and must be destroyed! Oh yeah, we're talking about your daughter's boyfriend. Put a little crucifix necklace around Bo's neck or on his collar....then...next time Dracula comes over, pick Bo up and sit next to Dracula on the couch...like real close to him...and then, just lay Bo across your lap kinda onto his. If Dracula flinches or tries to run away, bring out the stakes, hammer and garlic! Off with his head!!

| I have to say for the boyfriend, people do change their minds. My husband's family are also cat people, big time. He forbid me to have a dog prior to our marriage, saying dog or me. I would reply, 'I will know you love me when you buy me my yorkie.' Last year my father passed away, at the funeral one of my old friends asked about my dog. I told her we didn't have a dog - she was shocked. A couple of weeks later was my birthday, my husband's co-workers (the ladies) had done a huge amount of research for him, telling he should get me a dog, but to let me pick it out. We went to get a dog, came home with two and he LOVES them. So much, in fact, he jumps down on the floor when he comes home to let them lick him to death. Everyone knew how he hated dogs, especially small ones and worried so. His sister stayed with us on a business trip in January. She teased and teased him, she took the cats to sleep with her (ours). She would pretend to ignore the puppies (but they are adorable.) I love her anyway. She sent me a thank you card with a picture of a person with their head cut off and a small dog standing next to her. She wrote ME and ZOWIE or BRONX next to the pictures. It was sweet (I thought). The funniest thing is that he loves these dogs so much, he wouldn't dare deny it to any of his family or friends. Picture of Zowie and Aunt Maureen:

| Ive had Buddy described as 'a rat' a couple of times and i hate it, yes it is like someone being rude about one of your children. One man just looked at Buddy and said 'have you got a license for that rat!' second time another man, who was sitting renting out rowing boats by the river shouted over to us that we could bring the rat into the boat with us if we wanted. Well THATS IT i'm usually quite a calmish...lol person but the next person who refers to my baby as a rat or anything else even remotely derogatory GETS IT !!!!!

| I don't think most people are trying to be mean. They think they are funny, and it's ok to just smile and ignore them. Some people just don't like dogs or cats for that matter. They are the ones missing out. My mother can't smell. She is always worried that a dog would make her house stink and she wouldn't know. She wants one of my puppies, but I am sure she will not have one for that reason. You can always be the bigger person. It will give you a longer and happier life.

| I know how you feel. There are several people in my family who like dogs, but are completely prejudice against little dogs, especially our Yorkies. THey call them "ankle biters" Well, to set them straight, we posted a list of "rules" on our door for non-pet lovers that someone posted on here awhile ago. 1. They live here, you don’t! 2. If you don’t want their hair on your clothes, stay off of the furniture. (That’s why they call it “fur”niture.) 3. We like our dogs better than we like most people. 4. To you, they are animals. To us, they are adopted children who are short, hairy, and walk on all fours. Although they don’t speak clearly, they communicate extremely well. 5. Dogs are better than kids. They eat less, don’t ask for money or rides all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don’t hang out with drug-using friends, don’t smoke or drink, don’t worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don’t wear your clothes, and don’t need a gazillion dollars for college. Also, if they get pregnant, you can sell the children! LOL! I think it's great and no one says anthing bad about our Yorkies anymore. Hope I helped! |
