| Velcro harness! I almost lost her! I got this really really cute harness for lola its pink with bows glitter everything perfect for my lil girly girl... well I took her for a walk today as usual in the same route and there was this big big dog... so we went the other way .. well lola loves big dogs! so she ran after him and I pulled her back and from the harness being velcro it came right off and she went after the dog... the dog starting going crazy the owner was yelling at me her dog almost ate my baby.... I was so scared the lady was so mad I felt so bad.. Im never buying a velcro harness again I dont care how pretty it is please BE CAREFUL if u have one!

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Wow What a scare!! It's wise to becareful with any harness you get. No harness is fail proof you must always check and recheck. There is always the possibility our babies can get out of any harness. I have never had a problem with the velcro harnesses but i have had problems with a few other harnesses before and it is very scary. I'm glad your baby is ok. This is a good reminder to always recheck your harnesses of any type.

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Oh my gosh! Kelly! I am so sorry girl!! I am so glad that you got little Lola back in time and thank you so much for posting this! This is something that I have actually worried about...it has crossed my mind more than once. Thank goodness Tatum is so small so I don't *think* she could pull hard enough to the velcro to snap, but you NEVER know. However, Stedman will do exactly as Lola did and pull and tug on the leash if he sees another dog (he FREAKS out and barks like crazy trying to get to them) - so I really have to watch him. BUT - ever since I bought one of the Silk Harnesses from Cindy (chattiesmom) which is NOT velcro...I have been walking him with that. I need to get my order in for Tate's! We just LOVE these harnesses! I do feel MUCH more secure when walking them with a harness that DOESN'T have velcro. Big hugs to little Lola and I am so sorry that you guys had such a big scare!

| Did the velcro let loose at the tummy, or was it the neck? I ask because I have always used velcro harnesses and the only time I had a problem is once when I didn't have the neck velcro'd correctly and she slipped right out of it with the neck open. Other than that, I've never had velcro come undone. Maddie is a puller, and my daughter's dog pulls even more, and they've always stayed secure. Maybe this vest was made with some cheap velcro or not the heavy duty. I once made a dress for a 30 pound dog that was a puller and it stayed secure when they walked her. I'm so glad your little Lola is safe and unharmed! *HUG*

| How scary for you guys! I've never had an issue with any of the harnesses I've made, but I make sure when we go out I securely velcro both sides right on top of each other and press down firmly just in case. You must have been so worried! I once had a regular harness with the buckles from petsmart BREAK on me during a walk. So, I know how terrifying that can be |

| I use nothing but velcro harness and clothing. Rocco is very strong and I have never had that problem. Maybe it wasn't a good quality velcro, or like Connie mentioned ..not fastened good. Anyways, glad she wasn't hurt. |

| How very scary! It is very important to have good quality velcro. I have seen some at Petsmart that were so cheap and hardly held...always make sure the velcro is good stuff and secured completely together. |

| Wow - I bet that was scary. When Lacy was still a puppy I bought her the prettiest stepin harness and leash set from a dog boutique in Dallas. She is a major puller though and stretched it out so it became too easy for her to get out of. And then one time the leash actually broke! It really is scary chasing after them like that. Now she has a leather stepin harness and leash set the I got from GlamourDog. I've used it for a year with no problems at all - it's VERY secure and being leather doesn't stretch at all. So far as the velcro - I've made a few dresses for Lacy before (I have to be in the mood to do it so it doesn't happen too often LOL) and have always used the thinner velcro on the ones I've made. This thinner velcro is okay for clothes but I would never trust it for a harness - it just wouldn't hold well. I have bought dresses from ChloeBella and from another dress maker at a dog show and they use thick, heavy duty velcro that really holds together really well - I don't think I'd have a problem walking her in a harness made with velcro like that. Did the harness you used have the thinner velcro?

| I have been thinking about getting velcro harness...was ready to order last week and then had changed my mind. That is one of my biggest concerns. May look into getting the attachables. I forgot who had them on their site. Attachable dress to the harness so my babies can look all pretty. Thanks for sharing. You have def. made me make up my mind. I am just overly cautious. I would be freaked. My babies run so fast and don't listen to us all the time.
