| Yet another thread about marking i have been on these forums for a while now and have read a lot of threads about this topic, but have yet to find a solution that works. Toby is over 2 years old now and he is fully potty trained. He doesn't have any problem at my house, but when he's at my parents house or anyone else's who has a dog, he marks EVERYTHING. Solutions: #1. I know what everyone's going to say, neuter him. There are a couple of reasons why I have chosen not to neuter him. 1. I want to breed him later 2. Neutering doesn't guarantee that he'll stop. From reading the threads and talking to my vet, it seems like it only works 60% of the time. #2. Clean up the mess immediately with Nature's Miracle. Tried it, but he just finds somewhere else to mark next to it. #3. Spray bottle - has no effect at all #4. Belly band - he just rips it off, even with a safety pin. #5. Anti-depressant meds prescribed by the vet - I haven't tried this one, but have discussed it with my vet and he doesn't recommend it. He says it changes their mood. I don't want a groggy, super mellow dog. That being said, any other suggestions? |

| Make yourself a bellyband out of flannel - double width - 4" wide & circumference of his tummy with enough room to lap over. Add wide velcro at both ends, place incontinence pad (thick) inside and I promise you he won't be able to rip it off. No more marking when you take him visiting. Charlie is neutured and still marked when he came to live with me. Every day that I leave for work, he wears his bellyband - some days it is wet, some days it is dry. Much better than pee on furniture, etc. Good luck.
