How are you guys in California?? OMG, I just saw the news....another earthquake?? Is everyone ok-are you scared the "big one" might be coming...I guess you just have to hunker down and hope you'll be safe. Coming from Tornado country, I don't even know what to do during an earthquake! We get in our bathtub or basement for tornadoes, what do you guys do?

Relax everybody We are just fine. I was at work when the Yucaipa one hit, we are on the 10th floor. A little rocking and rolling, we did not even miss a beat at work. I said to Lucia and Angie, the girls I work with, hey feel that, another earthquake, we hesitated for a moment and went right on working. When you live in California there is usually some earth movement on a daily basis, most of them so small you don't realize it til you listen to the news. I have lived here most of my life and it is just part of living here. Oregon and Washington have lots of rain (well, so did we this year LOL), midwest has tornados, the south east have hurricanes, it is just part of living here.

| Thanks for checking in on us, we appreciate it! I have been fortunate enough not to have felt either of the two earthquakes that hit Northern California. To answer your question about what we do when the earth starts to shake, it depends on how hard it is shaking. If it's just a little shake, we stay put. If it really starts to shake, then we take cover in a doorway, or if possible, run outside.

no worries on the earthquake front, i was at work (with my perschoolers) when the yucaipa one hit as well. the kids didnt even notice a thing, i was the one laughing and saying "did you feel that?"........ the "big one" is supoosedly overdue but i am not really worried about it, if it comes it comes.... in schools if there is a big earthquake we have the kids get under their desks and cover their necks with their hands, but as these ones were so mild it was not necessary..... we were actually missing a few kids because their parents took them up to the MOUNTAINS when the tsunami warning came (some people need to read up on natural disasters )

I know some of those earthquakes can be easy to miss. When I was visting a cousin in San Diego we were sitting in the kitchen reading the paper when the glasses started clinking together. I asked her what is that, she looked arround for a second and then said "Oh it's just an earthquake" and went right back to reading the paper. I guess it's easy to get use to something you live with all your life. Arround here we have Hurricane parties. If your going to be in the dark, might as well be with friends.

We are in Orange County and felt the last two quakes however neither one was big enough or long enough for me to get up and gather the troops....My son was playing in his room during the Yucipa one and he didn't even notice anything...granted this was only his second one (he is only 3) the one befoer down near PS we were still in bed. I thought that doggies were soposed to telll when they were comming (all my past pets start actting a bit freakish a few min before hand however Gidget just kept "lounging" on both times. I am just waiting for a big one to hit like that on 91 or that (I think that is when It was) we are do for one...however I wouldnt trade it for a tornado or hurricane.

Since a hurricane can have tornados also. My dads roof was taken off by a tornado during Ivan last year. I guess a little shake now then is not to bad.

SoCallers Nice to see more socalifornia posters. I live right down the street from Disneyland, have not been in years. Earthquakes are common occurrences here and even the so-called "big" ones, Whittier Narrows in 87, the Loma Prieta in 89, the Northridge in 94, are usually isolated in certain areas that receive damage. I have lived here all my life (98% at least) and never suffered any damage from an earthquake, except short term loss of power. Would love to get together with some of you SoCal people. Let me know, maybe we can arrange a meet up.
