| Does Your Yorkie Bark All The Time? does your yorkie bark all the time? before i got max people always told me yorkies bark to much. so i was afraid to get him. the day i went to choose my new baby i was looking around at them all and some were going crazy and some didnt care about the visiter, then there was max he was realy excited but didnt make one sound. so he was the one that i fell in love with. he still doesnt bark when he see a new face but is starting to seem protective when he hears a strang sound.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Yes , Zoey barks ALOT! I live in an apartment and when my neighbors come up the stairs , she makes a big fuss! Sometimes it gets annoying but i'm starting to get used to it now. She especially gets excited when she see's my mom and dad. LOL , it's the funniest thing. She'll run around in circles barking and then she jumps in mid-air until one of them picks her up. I've heard that Yorkies are big barkers. Alot of people say that's a turn off and the reason they won't get a Yorkie. I love my little girl though. She means the world to me regardless of her loud barks.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I had Zorro never barked, Gracie rarely barked. Now I have a pom who barks all the time and when I got Cali she didn't bark much but then I got Pixie and she has learned from Maya to bark like crazy whenever Maya barks, and Cali has started barking more lately.

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | Gizmo never really barks, However.... LACIE BARKS ALL THE TIME, AT EVERYTHING. It can be quite disturbing. But she was in a kennel until just 3 weeks ago. I hope she get better at not being scared of everything.

| No. Kacee seldom barks. I love it. So, if she sees something she wants to bark at, it is fine with me since it is so seldom I hear it.

| Toby hardly ever barks. He will occasionally bark when I am cleaning or cooking and not paying attention to him. But we also trained him to not be a barker by making sure he was always around people and other dogs so he would feel comfortable.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Izzy is a barker but that's what terriers do and really I don't mind it to an extent. I do want her to bark when she hear's a strange noise or if someone comes to the door, but we are working on the word "enough" to make her stop when we want to. She also barks at the cats a lot - she just wants them to play. I have to think that since she is still a puppy (8mos) that she is still getting used to her environment and as she matures the barking will dimenish somewhat. I've read several posts on YT that people get good results to stop the barking by putting coins in an empty soda can and taping and when furbutt starts barking to shake it and say "enough" or whatever cue word you will use. We will be starting that this week - we'll see how that goes.

| Penny's a none stop barker, where Piper is quiet as can be. Sometimes she gives me a headache.

| My Zoey barks mostly when she wants my attention. She'll also bark when she has her head peering out the window if she sees someone.

| constant barker Maxie barks all the time, at people outside, at the vacuum cleaner, at my husband when she wants attention. I shouldn't say all the time, but most of the time. I am definitely going to try the coin in the can thing. We live in a condo complex, so you can imagine the amount of traffic walking by. |

| Sadly I have 2 barkers. They will come out of a dead sleep barking when they hear a dog bark (either outside or on tv) or a doorbell on tv makes them mental. Also anyone who DARES to walk by my patio or my front door will hear it from them! This is hard to avoid considering I live in a townhouse. I've gotten written up twice by my condo association for their barking. I have started to play music at a decent volumn during the day while I am at work to drown out the outside noises that will get them barking. I think its helping bc its been about 4 months since Ive gotten a letter from my association. Pretty good so far!

| Jack doesn't bark unless someone knocks on the door but Bella likes to bark just for the fun of it. I am not sure about Jocie yet!

| Hmmm...seems as though people have very different experiences. My puppy hardly barks at all, even when people come to the door. Her ears go up and she is interested, but she doesn't bark.
