Donating YT 11K Club Member | We got stopped by the cops! Me and my boyfriend took the train real quick to blockbuster and we took Sophia and London with us. When we got off at my stop we heard cops telling us to stop and i didnt even know they were talking to us. They freakin gave us each a $25 ticket for having the dogs not in a container. I was so embarrassed cause i was on MY stop but im laughing about it now cause it's just ridiculous. I didn't know they had to be contained, i thought that they just had to be on leashes and i've taken teddy on it before and cops have seen me and never told me anything. They said they were "transit cops", it was 2 ladies, one of which i've seen before around my block and she even told me she wants "one of those dogs too". She could have just let us go, being a "dog person" that she is but no. They were even saying how beautiful London and sophia are, etc and i thought we were just going to get a warning but we have to pay. It's no big deal cause it doesn't go on a record or anything like that but this is the 1st ticket me and my bf have ever gotten for anything! One of the cops looked like she felt really stupid cause so many people were walking by and saying "you got stopped for those 2 little tiny dogs? That's ridiculous, they're just trying to make money". I know how it is cause my brother is a cop and he told me how cops give out tickets sometimes just to make money and go home but this...wow. Anyway i understand some ppl are scared of dogs, but my little girls won't hurt a fly..ok maybe a fly. But you should have seen them, they had their little dresses on and bows. They are good little girls

| Because this is such a stupid ticket I would take it to court and see if I couldn't get it dismissed. I think they could have warned you, a ticket is just silly. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | oh i'm so sorry you had to go thru that; they coudl have given you a warning, but some cops are just BAD. We got a speeding ticket on Sunday and we were driving on a highway at the same speeds as the other cars, which was over the limit, but we were all at the same speed, around 80 MPH (limit is 70). So he stopped us and said we were driving at 97 MPH!!!!!! what a lier! and when we tried to say samething he said "it's not open for discussion" So he can just make up whatever speed he feels like??? stupid cop! |

| I never heard of them having to be contained. I know in Florida unless they are a serivce dog, they cannot go on public transportation and of course we do not have subways here in Florida, just buses. But they do have to be on leashes wherever else you take them. It was stupid of them just to ticket you, they should have given you a warning, especially when they did not present a danger to anyone.

| It sounds like they were trying to justify their existance.

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | It must have been a slow day...What no muggers around. Sure glad I don't have to take public transporation in Kansas.

| Geez, I never heard of such a thing! I would go to court and plead not guilty. It's the principal. Hard to believe they had nothing better to do in NY! I live in NY as well and Buddy rides with me in the passenger seat. I only use his seat belt harness ( won't fit in anything) when we are going for a long trip. I'll have to check in my area and see if that's a law. I don't want to pay a fine. I rather shop with the money |

| I'm sorry, but with all the crime in NYC should they really be watching out for fugitive dogs. I'm surprised they didn't take their mug shots.

| ok get this, my friend was driving home from work and got pulled over for speeding and having her dog loose in the car. i guess now you have to have the dog in a kennel or car seat they cant roam free or sit in your lap at any time in the car. guess from now on when i take all the kids and dogs to the park i will have to get 2 vans one for 6 kid car seats and one for 5 dog seats lol.

but sarah, i've taken mocha to ny and we've ridden every public transportation there is and have never been stopped. with the cops on every corner and stop, no one has ever said anything except how cute she was. i've never leashed her either--i either hold her in my arms or put her in my carrier.
