| Mindy's Making Strange Noises I'm hoping someone has had this experience and it's nothing to worry about because it's kinda freaking me out. It started with her sneezing a few times and then she started making this strange sound like she was struggling to breath through her nose. She has stopped at the moment...thank God!!!!! Anyone know what that could be about? |

| Sounds like reverse sneezing to me. Mattie does that sometimes. I was so scared and rushed her to the vet.. My vet check her from ear to butt to feet to nose.. said she was fine. After 150.00 she said it was reverse sneezing. It's almost like sneezing alot to us.. in a row.. don't know how else to explain it. If it keeps up an she starts to not act her normal self I would have her checked just in case. Never to safe than sorry. |

| sounds like felix in the Odd Couple Rockie makes a noise, sounds like Felix in the Odd Couple. He would clear his sinuses. The Vet said it was just that, clearing his nose. down there on the floor, there are things that get sniffed up there. He even gets water up his nose when he drinks to fast. But, I would ask your vet cause I you never know and we sure aren't vets.

| Sounds like reverse sneezing. I too rushed Emma to the vet after she had a few attacks of it-like 10 in a row! They make that noise because there's a tickle between their nose and throat, usually caused by something in the air.She gets them with allergies, and got some meds to help her with it late last summer. So far she's been ok this summer-but we'll see how things go. Here's a way to tell if it's reverse sneezing or something else: When your furbaby's making that AWFUL noise, plug his or her nose by gently but firmly covering the nostrils with your finger. They will open their mouth to breathe since you're plugging their nose-if they stop making the noise, it's reverse sneezing. Sounds funny, but it works!

| It could always be a collapsed trachea as well - where the collagen in the throat is not enough and the trachea collapses when the dog is stressed or excited. A Vet could tell you - one of my three Tara had this since a puppy, and they operated to check it out - they said she was very bad and wouldn't live past 4 yrs - and charged me a lot of money, but that was a lot of rubbish, as she is 7 now and no worse. If it is that, just hold her nose towards the floor and gently massage her throat - this will take the spasm out of it and your dog will be fine until the next time. It's like a wheeze and sneezy noise and spluttering....but these ladies are right it could also be reverse sneezing. In any case the cure is easy if it's the throat, just massage it.....and keep them from stress and excitement as much as possible.
