| Need Suggestions for Buying First Yorkie We are planning to buy our first Yorkie puppy in a few months. I found a vet in our area who breeds Yorkies, and he's willing to sign a health guarantee/contract, so I feel comfortable buying from him. However, I would like to hear suggestions on what we should look for when choosing a puppy. I'm sure Yorkie owners will have lots of information to offer! I have some specific questions: 1. What size is too small for an adult Yorkie? I have heard that very small Yorkies have serious health problems. The mother of the puppy we are going to get weighs a little over 5 pounds, the father just under 4 pounds. 2. I've heard there are specific diseases/illnesses associated with the Yorkie breed. Have many of you experienced these problems? 3. When I examine the puppies, what specifically should I look for? Thanks! |

- hopefully a breeder can help you better with the diseases and illlnesses you need to screen for. i dont' know much about that! 3. when you see your pup make sure her eyes are clear, no discharge in her eys or nose... she looks alert and active... and depending on the age you can look for a little personality to show through | |
