| Might sound crazy.......But It sure did work Yesterday I was talking to Mickeys breeder, when I talked to her I was telling her how I couldnt get Mickey to eat the can U/D only the dry U/D prescription foods. and I have heard with the can having water added, that its better for him.We had tried for over two months now.and she said sure you can, I said no not by its self, only if I add meat to it, and hes not suppose to have it like that. She said now Debbie as many dogs as you say you have had you should know that they will eat it if you put a little spit on it, I was like what? she said just on the first bite. put it up to your mouth and add a little spit. I laughed. well as crazy as its sounded I was willing to try it, so I cut some up on a plate and took two pieces and added a dot of spit and handed it to each one, they smelled it , ate it and wanted more. they ate the rest with out any spit. lol Man you learning some thing new every day lol. So today I cut some more up and put it on a plate and sit it down in front of them, They smelled it and walked away. I then picked a piece out of each plate added a dot of spit and then they both ate it, walked over to the plate and finished it all. I am so shocked that this really did work. and I hope they soon learn to like it with out the spit lol. I was telling this on another forum and a lady there who had a sick Yorkie said her Yorkie was sick and would not eat, she tried it and it ate it right up. lol So I thought I would share, sounds crazy but it worked for us. |

| Same principle works if you have newborn pups that won't nurse. Put a little spit on your finger and rub it on mama'ss teats and they will suck. |

| Ha, ha, ha. Sounds like something I may have to keep in mind in case any of mine ever decide NOT to eat. Did she tell you what to put on their food to get them to want to eat less???

Donating YT 500 Club Member | [QUOTE=Gingergirlsmom;1265128 Did she tell you what to put on their food to get them to want to eat less???[/QUOTE] Yeah -- that's the one we need at our house, too! Seriously though, if that works, it's great to know. How many times do we have picky eater's parents asking for help -- or how many times when our own are ill and NEED to eat not only to keep up strength but to get meds down them? A trick I hope I don't have to try anytime soon, but good to have if I do! |
