Default Diggy ate chocolate

Seriously can I ever get a break???? I ran to my father in laws for no more than 20 minutes my daughter calls and says Diggy ate a chocolate sucker....Its the make and mold chocolate that you pour into a mold and put a stick in it and makes suckers. I had some left over from when I made them for my sons class at school and was enclosing them in the gift exchange box for my GE buddy...I completely forgot they were in there and he got one and ate it! Id say its equal to 2 herseys kisses melted down. It was part milk chocolate part peanut butter choclate and part white chocolate the form is a baseball (the white) a bat (peanut butter) and football (milk) SO I race home (I was about 4-5 miles away) and called the vet right away....they said give him a half teaspoon of Hydrogen peroxide and if he doesnt vomit in 5 minutes another 1/2 teaspn. Well I gave him the peroxide and took him outside and he puked within 2 minutes.....4 times 1st was all chocolate I could literally she the white and brown it was still seperated. then it was all watery light brown then finally the last time he puked clear....so does that mean he got it all out???

I am seriously exhausted....Im not over the reaction to revolution yet and now this???
Is he okay?

Sounds like you got most of it out of his system before it got fully digested. I think giving him some bread to help absorb any that he might have had get digested and plenty of water to help dilute and remainning chocolate in his system might also be a good idea. Seems like he didn't get too much chocolate though.

Default Diggy ate chocolate

Gracie ate 2 hershey kisses (and I think some of the foil!) that hubby had dropped on the floor (they were under the couch) in the family room about 3 years ago. She weighed about 4 lbs. at the time. I called the vet immediately and she said just to watch her for 12 hours. She was absolutely fine....although the foil did come out in the end

I think he'll be fine. You got to him in time. My dog (not Oliver) ate a half of a bag of DARK Hershey Kisses back in Feb.! She had a nice over night stay at the vet, but she came out just fine! Thank goodness! It was scarey though! The vet said it would be like us drinking 50 cups of coffee!

it happened very fast....like I said he puked in like 2 minutes and back bouncing around and fine....

Maybe I am just feeling sorry for myself but I seriously put my whole life and soul into these babies and it has been so non stop with Diggy.....I am constantly worried and my nightmares come true! First the seizures from Hypo...I get that all fixed and STRESSED every second of everyday he was gonna fall over in a seizure again. I hand feed him home cook if he doesnt eat enough kibble, then I research shots and never do all shots at once....always a week apart, to ensure IF he reacts I would know what it is...shots all go fine...I research flea treatment after shots are done figuring it is now safe to start flea meds...decide on revolution as it has the lowest # of reactions recorded....Guess what HE REACTS....Itching howling whining so to the vet, benedryl 3 times a day Just stopped giving benedryl today and TADA we eat chocolate.....

He is only 5 months and 3 pounds...and seriously is wearing me out! I admit I worry A LOT but thats just who I am Paranoid Paula. And right now a crying paranoid paula, with Diggy in his bed next to me sleeping and every 2 minutes i am touching him and watching him breath... Oh and I have had about 15 hours of sleep this week because I sit up at night staring at him because he was sooo miserable with reaction to revolution.

If it was milk chocolate, you don't have much to worry about at all. Chocolate is more dangerous when it has a higher concentration of cocao-- most of the chocolates people eat as treats have a low concentration of the stuff. The really dangerous chocolates are ones like extra dark baker's chocolate.

I work at an animal hospital, and we've seen dogs who've eaten whole boxes of milk chocolates with no ill effects (except that the owners wanted to bap them for stealing their goodies!)

I'm waaaaay over on the western side of the state, almost in the lake. I know where Monroe is though-- I used to live nearer to there when I was a little girl.

I've been lurking on the boards for a lil bit now, since I got my puppy girl about a month and a half ago, so I've seen some of Diggy's exploits. Just figured I'd chime in some encouragement, since chocolate is one thing I actually know about.
