| New mommy questions please Hi all..my new baby is only 3 weeks old so will be a few weeks before I get her. What is the recommended diet for baby yorkies? Danger signs to look for when I finally bring her home? Also..I want to name her Prada but can't for the life of me figure out what to go with it! Any suggestions appreciated. thanks donna hugapet |

| Congrats on your new baby! At first, keep her on the same food the breeder has her on. You can then gradually change her over to something else if you want, depending on the quality and availability of what the breeder is feeding. My breeder fed a kibble that was only available mail order and was very expensive. I slowly switched Gracie over to a quality canned puppy food. It was some time before she would eat dry food. If the breeder sends baby home with supplemental formula/puppy milk, consult your vet. You will want to wean her off soon. Just watch to make sure she eats enough. At first she won't want to eat so have some Nutrical or puppy Nutrical on hand and supplement her several times a day if she is not eating. The best thing you can do is get hooked up with a good vet, someone you can call with questions. Trust me you will have lots of them if this is your first puppy. I'm not too good with names, but what about Prada 'n Joy? (aka Pride and Joy). Have fun with your baby girl. They grow up so very fast!

| I do have a great relationship with my vet as I have other dogs, just never a Yorkie. Reading about them scares me to death..they seem so fragile. Will post pics as soon as she doesn't look like a mouse..lol. went to see her Saturday and she looks just like a mouse with a brown face. The lady that has them says she is going to start them on kibble so i will be sure to find out what she uses. I was wondering if canned would upset their stomach, I haven't had a puppy since my Pom..he is 11 now. Thanks for the input. Registering her name will be a deal I am sure...Prada Pearl...I also thought about Martini and call her Tini. |
