| Neuter/Marking Question Max goes in to get Neutered really soon, he is 9mo old and just recently started lifting his leg in the house. I've read if you neuter early you can avoid them from marking, but now that he started marking, whats the likleyhood he will stop once he is neutered? And advice on how to get him to stop would be geatly appreciated!! I've been using belly bands so he doenst have his scent all over the house thankfully, but I would love to have him stop lifting that leg so I wont need the bands anymore.

| Hi there, my little WOokie isn't even 5 months yet and he is already lifting his leg.. i was so proud that he did that cause that meant he was a boy, until a friend of mine said he was marking.. LoL i had no idea. hes not quit potty trained yet.. but i have noticed that the closer i watch him and the better he gets at training, the less he marks. i always treat it more like an accident than marking.. and he now marks his puppy pad instead of just normal peeing i guess you can say. but what are these belly bands that you use???? |

| Lol! Thats so funny, I thought the same thing about Max when he lifted his leg, I thought my baby turned into a big boy.. Now my big boy is lifting his leg like its the coolest trick he knows and I want him to stop A belly band is sort of like a diaper, its a strip of cloth that goes around his belly and closes with velcro. I put a sanitary napkin in the middle of his belly band incase he does lift his leg he wets the napkin and not the band. They work really well! He never messes in my house because the belly band absorbs it all and its great to use when visiting someone's house, you dont have to worry about any accidents with the diaper on BUT I would much rather he not mark then to use Belly Bands for ever I've been taking him on walks every night and when he lifts his leg to every other bush I give a gentle tug on the leash and say "no mark" and he will stop until the next bush and so on. I don't know what other command I should use, mark is very close to bark I dont want to confuse him. BUt I was hoping to train him with a command so when we are in the house if I see him sniffing around i can use the command and he will know not to. Any other advice or suggestions? My main concern is will I be able to train him not to mark, if so how? Here is a picture of Max with his Belly Band on, he looks like he's smiling

| oh, hes cute!! hey thats a good idea... i need to get one of those.. where do you get them from?? and when you say sanitary napkin... hmm do you mean like a pad?? do they make them for the belly band for pets or you have to get the regular ones??? im training Wookie to go on the pad.. hes gotten a lot better, but i see your problem. i never thought about the "no mark" command.. i think thats a great idea. i'v heard that neutering is suppose to help a lot, but might not work.. but Wookie isn't even 6 months yet, and his testicles havn't even dropped yet, and im getting worried, cause i want to neuter him but i dont want him to keep this habit. |

| Sanitary napkin, yes I mean pad I bought my belly bands from www.barkindogclothes.com (under the misc. section) they are very inexpensive and so worth it! I have about 5, they come in real handy
