| Vacation I'm leaving for vacation on friday and i'm looking for a boarder to look after bizkit while i'm gone. what should i look for in a good boarder. this is so hard for me to leave him,but taking him is not a option. and i'm so worried about leaving him with a stranger,he dont much like strangers since he has been kicked by the neighbors kids a few times. i thought about leaving him home alone while i'm gone, but i dont think that is a good idea. I will be gone for 6 days and thats just to long to leave him. does any one have any advise on how to find a good boarder? |

| Talk to your vet, He should recommend a good one with the specifications that you want.

| I agree check with your vet. Our vet does boarding or maybe you could find another vet that boards and board your yorkie there. Do you have any family members that you can trust to care for your baby and that can? We really have not been on vacation since having our yorkies becuase we just hate to leave them with anyone.

Yorkie Yakker | Have you thought about finding a friend who comes to your home to check, feed, and play with your puppy? That way you don't have to worry about which boarder to choose. The more you worry about your puppy, the pickier you are with choosing which one to go. |

| Do you have friends or co-workers you can ask to make recommendations? Definitely your vet is a good place to turn to. Have you checked to see if someone else on YT lives near you and might know of a good place to board? I have posted a couple of links with guidelines about finding a place to board your baby. Hopefully the place you find isn't filled at this point. http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/ch...ng_kennel.html http://www.cvm.uiuc.edu/petcolumns/s..._pf.cfm?id=513 I had a horrid experience at a kennel here in Des Moines - Greenbelt Kennels - they cost me the life of my beloved female Bichon. Yes, that's right they essentially killed my dog! They did not give her enough water and she went into kidney failure - so be careful!! But just last month, I was in the same prediciment as you. I was traveling to Nashville & wanted to board the dogs there. I searched and searched to find a good fit. So I wish you luck. Also, maybe look for someone who can come to your home, or maybe a friend knows someone who would take your dogs in. yorkiesmiles |

| I have decided to board him at my vet,I really hate to think about him being in a cage for a week, but i guess he will be ok. not sure i will,I'm very sad about leaving him there. I know he will be cared for,but he is never caged and is not used to it. they said he gets fed 2 times a day and walked 2 times a day, does this sound good? |

| I'd check with the Vet. They may be able to recommend someone who can come into your house, so he want have to be moved out of his familiar home.

| maybe you should post in the Regional forum - maybe someone there would know something about the kennel in virginia. At least if you board at your vet, you know they already know your furbaby & they will certainly provide good care. Best wishes on your decision yorkiesmiles |
