| Such a Dilema... i have always been allergic to dogs, asthma and allergies. however i had been around poodles and yorkies before and had USUALLY been ok around them so i decied to get a yorkipoo, thinking i should be fine. i spent a lot of time with him before i took him home and my asthma and allergies were not acting up, however now that hes been in my house for about a week the allergies and asthma are so bad. I just dont know what to do it breaks my heart to think i might have to sell him.. does anyone know of any new allergy medications out there that combat dog allergies??? anyyy suggestions would help. thanks |

| What have you been on? Is his hair short? Maybe try a short haircut on him? Let me know what you have tried and maybe we can come up with something? Also, you havent put anything on him (like flea powder ect.) right?

| Oh no!!! I'm so sorry to hear this...And you're sure it's the dog? That really stinks...Have you tried zyrtec or claritin? There are also allergy shots that you can get...But to tell you the truth allergies and asthma are no joke, so I don't think I would risk your health, especially if you've only had your pup 1 week. I have other allergies as well and they are absolutely miserable...

| Yeah, his hair is short and I have washed him 3 times since hes been home (only a week). I have not put anything on him such as flea powder etc. and yes, i know for a fact it is the dog because just laying on the ground playing with him (having him near my face) makes everything get 10x worse in about 2 min and if i hold him for more than 2 min i break out in little bumps that turn into a rash on my arms I have tried zyrtec and claritin a few years back for much less severe allergies and they did not help, so i am somewhat cynical in thinking that it will help now. I have taken extra strength sudafed and that helps for about 2 hrs, but i cant take an extra strength sudafed every 2 hrs for the next 12 years! It absolutely breaks my heart to think i might have to give him up, and i would be soo scared he would go to someone who wouldn't treat him well. But, i also feel bad about keeping him because i feel i cant give him as much love as he deserves bc i cant hold him or snuggle with him etc. All i can give him is lots of exercise, but dogs..puppies esp. need so much snuggle and cuddle time. Is anybody on YT looking for a new puppy?? |

| How often do you bathe him and does he spend alot of time outside? It might not be him you are allergic to and it could be the pollen and grass he is bringing in from the outside. It could also be the shampoo and conditioner if it is fragrant. I am also severley allergic to a ton of things but the dogs dont bother me unless they have been outdoors or sometimes when I brush them my allergies act up. You might be allergic to fragrances and not realize it. It took me many trips to the emergency room before someone suggested that to me. |

| Have you contacted your doctor about allergy medication for this. My sister has allergies to animals. She can be in the house for a long period of time with my yorkies, but she has chiuahua(sp.????) and does fine with them.

| Yorkies are supposed to be good for allergy/asthma sufferers. I can't be around cats or dogs with true fur like shepards or blue tick hounds, but i've never had a problem around yorkies, thank god! I have asthma, i take singulair and it works fine for me but not around cats and certain kinds of dogs. I am so sorry you're having trouble, i wish i could make it all better so you wouldn't have to consider selling your puppy. I know nothing about poodles, could that be the difference? Sometimes i've been told when you're in close quarters you can get used to that specific dog and it won't bother you any more, you'd still have problems with other dogs, i don't know how bad it is so i can't suggest waiting it out. Good luck!!!

| I think my allergies and asthma are just too severe to begin with. Even when im not around anything making my asthma act up, I am on advair 2 times a day, an albuterol inhaler 2-3 times a day and then about twice a week i have to use a breathing machine with liquid albuterol |

| Have you tried using allergy shampoo for pets like this http://www.asthmastuff.com/Aller-Rx%20Pet%20Shampoo.htm You can also get a prescription for 'Dallergy' and use it as an antihistamine supplement. I use to have severe Asthma.

| I am trying and I do have allergy medication that makes the allergy symptoms better, but not the asthma. The only thing in homes, hospitals, DR's offices etc to treat asthma is some type of albuterol to expand the airways and it is full of adrenaline and for your heart safety you can only take so much at a time. Im small, 5'1 95lbs, so my heart cannot afford to be pumped full of adrenaline 4 times a day, ill have a heart attack |

| lcutson, I know that it's tough, but your health comes first. I know first-hand how hard allergies and asthma are, as everytime I go to my MIL's house (they have a cat) I have an extremely hard time breathing, and I could not live like that...It's too hard on the body. I have to be on benadryl the entire time that I am there, and it's very hard on me. I'm so sorry. Be very careful who you place the pup with. Ask lots of questions. Would the breeder take your furbaby back? A reputable breeder would want to know this, and may have a home that could take him. If not, maybe a yorkie rescue...
