How much should I expect to see her eat (9weeks)? Hello all! Our girl is 9 weeks, and I am wondering what would be a sufficient amount for me to see her eating? We brought her home last night and she wouldn't eat the dry food at all. I did get her to lap about 2 tablespoons full when I softened it with 2 parts water... but she hasn't touched the dry so far. I havne't looked in her mouth to check the teeth status yet. My breeder told me to not worry when I asked her last night. She said if she didn't eat by tonight , then to call her... should I keep softening food just to get her to eat? Or really not worry? What would be a healthy amount for me to see her eating? Thanks in advance! Cheryl

my litter is nine weeks old and i am having the same problem. i am feeding mine a little boiled chicken each day but leave dry kibble down which they won't eat unless it's mixed with something. i am also feeding mine a little wet food in the morning, noon and night mixed with some softened dry. At this age, you need to feed her any kind of food she will eat. nine weeks is too young to take away from her mama. She is probably weaned as mine are, but having to leave all she has known as comfort, has given her a set back. try putting some dry food in the food processor, then mixing it in with a little wet food. As to how much, i think they usually eat about two tablespooons at a time but mine don't eat that much. i fix the food and if they clean the plate, they get more. i bought a nine week old puppy once and when i got home, all she would do is lick at the food. Didn't have any idea at all how to eat. i had to hand feed her for about two more weeks till she got the hang of it.

You can soften the food a little . Don't forget that the little one will need little time to adjust to your home . The amount of food she will eat greatly depend of her weight . If she is on the smaller side , she will not eat very much .

Thank you Thank you very much! Yes, now I am learning that 9 weeks is too early I am new at this.. and was told that the pup was ready to go Would you be able to recommend a brand of wet food that I could mix the dry in with? The dry I am feeding her is the IAMS smart puppy for toy breeds (the tiny kibbles) because this is what the breeder was feeding... is this ok or should I try to transition her to something better? Any brands or types of soft food you could recommend would be terrific... One more question... I keep reading about the hypoglycemia... is having Nutrical on hand something I should consider doing? Or is not that common to have to use it? Thank you ! Cheryl
