| 1 more question... I DON"T want an itsy bitsy dog. I have a pre-schooler, and while I am with him 24/7 I want him to be able to pet the dog without fear he will hurt it. KWIM? My puppies dad is 3.5lbs, and mom is 6.5. Out of 4 pups only 1 is a girl.. which is what I want. But, she is the smallest. The breeder assures me that she should be close to 5 lbs full grown. If not bigger. She says they have had 2 previous litters and NONE were under 4lbs. Is there a way to estimate how big a dog will be when fully grown? |

| A pre-schooler? Wow, you already have better grammar than most people here! Here is a link to a chart that you can use a guide as to estimated adult size. Of course, nothing is definate and she could be bigger or smaller. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16045 Good luck!

| Although the chart is a good reference, it's really difficult to tell. Chloe had a litter of five, ranging from 4.5 to 6 ounces. Chloe weighs 8 pounds and the sire weighs 7. I kept the runt, she now weighs 3.5 pounds. My sister took the two boys which included the largest pup - he now weighs 12 pounds!! Go figure. Have you thought about rescuing an older yorkie instead of a puppy? Usually the foster homes can give you information like how they are around children, if they're housebroken, etc. Good luck to you! |

| to YT! It is hard to predict, but hopefully the estimation is in the ballpark. As far as runts go, they can surprise you, sometimes they end up being the biggest. You just never know.

Yes I already tried that. A little guy named Lefty.. I fell in love with him and was sure I would get him. But, they won't adopt him to me. My yard is not fenced. Even though I live on a dead end dirt road with 1 neighbor. They said they are just very picky when adopting out these dogs. That is why they are still in shelters for a year sometimes. I would be a GREAT yorkie mom. I am at home almost every minute of teh day, leave 1x a week to grocery shop. My animal will be 100% supervised and protected. WEll, I am a little bitter... can you tell? | |

| I don't blame you. I know some of the rescue organizations can be extremely difficult to deal with, but don't give up. Have you looked at Petfinder for one that's not with one of the rescue groups? I got my Harry from the Missouri City animal sheter for $25.00. |

| Welcome to YT!! Aubreys parents were about the same size as your puppies parents, and he is 12 lbs, at almost 10 months old. |

| I think your puppy is going to end up small. I have a 6 lb yorkie and she is still to small to be played with by a preschooler. I also have an 11 lb yorkie and he is sturdy and perfect for a child to play with. My 6lb yorkie doesnt even play with my daughter or like her to hold her.

| Size matters, but temperament is more important. Sammy is 6 pounds and sturdy as ever. Loki is 12 pounds and he's sturdy, but doesn't like loud noises and would definitely not enjoy a 4 year old holding him. Sammy would love to have a 4 year old to play with!

| I have a four year old sister, and AUbrey loves her, he will chase her around the house, and play with her all night if he could. It just depends on their personality. |
