| I have an addition to the question... For puppies, I was told not to shave her until her adult coat comes in, that it might affect the thickness of it. Is this true? Thanks! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Personally, I wouldn't want to find out. Why would you want to shave them "to the skin?" I can understand a fairly close cut or trim for the summer or just to keep maintenance down if that's a big issue, but to the skin? Seems a little drastic to me. |

| For mine, I guess I really meant a close cut, not shave to the skin. I don't like my son to get a buzz, I wouldn't want to see one on Molly either! Carla |

| Just a hint: In the heat of the summer you can cut your yorkie back alittle but never shave back because that hair works to insulate them from the heat. Some groomers think less is better but it really isn't.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | YIKES! It might be. With our first Yorkie, we made the mistake of trying a new groomer when the established one retired. We specified a summer "trim." When I went to pick up my dog, I DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM. He looked like, as a friend so eloquently said, "a peeled onion." I was ballistic and the poor dog ... he hid under the bed for the first three days. Took the rest of the summer before he even had a puppy cut coat! |
